Two worlds collided when Paul Mescal was spotted with TikTok’s new favourite songstress, Gracie Abrams – and now it appears there’s confirmation of a new romance between the pair.
Thanks to the eagle-eyed work of Deux Moi, photos obtained by the celeb gossip site showed the rumoured new couple holding hands while out and about in London, with many fans taking their latest sighting as proof that *something* could be happening between the millennial it-couple.
Rumours of the duo’s relationship first began to emerge in June 2024 after Mescal and Abrams were spotted sharing a table at London’s BRAT restaurant in June 2024, with the 28-year-old actor seen reaching out to touch Abram’s cheek.
Following the initial sighting, fans on social media were quick to speculate that they may actually be an item and weeks later, Britain’s The Sun reported that the pair enjoyed a second date where they headed to London’s Bond Street for a designer shopping trip.
“Paul and Gracie looked like any other young couple hitting the shops, and they went almost unnoticed,” an insider told the publication. “They seemed very relaxed in each other’s company and were busy checking out the posh shops on Bond Street.
“Paul is a very low-key person, as is Gracie, so there was no fanfare and they kept their distance from each other when they were out on the street. When they had finished shopping, they each went off alone.”
Although neither Mescal nor Abrams have commented on their recent sighting, their London catch-up is not the first time the pair have been linked, with celebrity gossip site Deuxmoi receiving an anonymous tip in October 2023 that claimed the duo were in the early days of a new relationship.
Following the recent sightings, Abrams fans have also speculated that her song Normal Thing may have hinted at her rumoured romance with the Normal People star, with the lyrics reading, “It’s a normal thing to fall in love with movie stars.”
Prior to his dinner with Abrams, Mescal was spotted alongside Normal People co-star and previously rumoured girlfriend Daisy Edgar-Jones at Glastonbury Festival.
Joined also by his former co-stars Andrew Scott and Saoirse Ronan, Mescal also took part in a festival-edition screening and Q&A panel for All of Us Strangers alongside the film’s director Andrew Haigh.
Rumours of Paul’s potential new romance come almost two years after the actor split from his fiancee Phoebe Bridgers.
Commenting briefly on his relationship, Mescal maintained that any further news of the couple’s breakup would be kept out of the public eye, telling Vanity Fair, “I definitely feel the temptation to say the status of my whatever – that will always be there, but I don’t think it’s a wise thing to do.”
“When Normal People came out, I was very forthright in interviews, and it didn’t actually serve me… but moving forward as much as I can, that’s going to be my life that is private.”
