On June 19, Suri Cruise made the most of her summer before leaving for college by taking a PDA-packed stroll around Central Park with her boyfriend, LaGuardia High School classmate Toby Cohen.
The affectionate outing, sealed with a paparazzi-caught kiss, came a day after the duo posed for photos outside Ascent Lounge in Midtown Manhattan with a group of friends before climbing into an SUV to be escorted to their performing arts high school prom.
Days later, the lovedbirds were snapped stepping out again. This time on another date in New York where Suri looked smitten as she enjoyed some time off.
Who is Suri Cruise’s boyfriend?
According to his Instagram, Suri’s date Toby is a musician who shares videos of himself singing and playing the guitar and piano on social media and is bound for Berklee College of Music in Boston.
He has a bio on YouTube which reads, “Singer songwriter who can’t stop playing music”.
Suri, 18, is set to attend the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with an interest in dance and fashion.
For her end of year school dance, the only child of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes wore a patterned bodice-style gown and completed the look with gold heels and a purple corsage around her wrist.
“She has her own sense of style and her own expressions,” Katie told The Sunday Times in June of her daughter, adding that she has “saved some things here and there” for the fashion-loving teen to inherit.
Katie has also been passing down wisdom she gained while starring in the teen drama Dawson’s Creek for six seasons from 1998 to 2003. “I was just 18 when we started, and I really appreciated the writing because I felt like, as a teenager, I had so many different feelings, trying to go from being a girl to a woman,” she told Glamour in 2023. “And I felt like [creator Kevin Williamson] had this way of putting words to those feelings.”
Aside from the usual teen angst and boy drama, Suri has had to deal with being known for her entire life.
Her A-list parents were engaged after a wildly public, two-month courtship, tying the knot with their daughter by their side in Italy in November 2006, a month after Suri made her public debut on the cover of Vanity Fair.
Fans and tabloids breathlessly followed every detail of the pampered pre-schooler’s life until Katie reportedly blindsided Tom with divorce papers in June 2012. She then moved to New York and has kept her life as a single mum relatively private.
“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,” Katie told Glamour. “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”
While Katie proudly accompanied her daughter to her graduation ceremony on June 21, Tom was in London, spotted in the VIP section of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour on
June 22. A pamphlet at the ceremony revealed that Suri now goes by “Suri Noelle”, seemingly dropping her famous dad’s last name.
Divorce documents in 2012 reportedly showed that Tom would pay $600,000
every year until Suri turned 18 and would also pay for his daughter’s medical and dental expenses, insurance, education costs and college tuition.
As Suri readies to step into adulthood, Katie couldn’t be prouder of the daughter she’s raised. “I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality,” she told InStyle in 2020. “To make sure she is 100 per cent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it.”
