Rumours abounded that Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire was in a fledgling new relationship after he was spotted with a model on his arm at Michael Rubin’s star-studded Fourth of July White Party in New York – and now his ex has spoken out about it.
The 49-year-old actor attended the A-list event with 20-year-old model and aspiring actress Lily Chee, who wore a daring dress that showed off her fabulous figure.
Tobey looked tanned and sporty in a white T-shirt, pants and sneakers, while Lily looked glamorous in a strappy dress that featured a thigh-high lace-up split at the side.
The actor appeared to be caught off guard by a photographer as the pair left that exclusive Hamptons party with his hand gently resting on Lily’s waist.
After the picture was released the potential new couple made headlines, but the actor’s ex-wife, Jennifer Meyer hit back.
The jewellery designer responded to a social media user when they asked how she feels about her ex being involved with “someone 3 years older than your daughter”.
Responding in the comments section Meyer wrote, “I don’t usually respond to such nonsense, but he was kindly helping a friend to her car. Being a good guy. And now he has blasted online for dating someone he is not. But thank you for your rude comments. I hope it made you feel better today. Wishing you love and light.”
Meyer shares two children with Maguire, Ruby, 17, and Otis, 15. The couple were married from 2007 until their separation in 2016, finalising their divorce in 2020.
Entrepreneur and Fanatics CEO Rubin’s annual White Party has become one of the go-to New York events for celebs, with a host of Hollywood actors, sports and social media stars all rubbing shoulders at the businessman’s sprawling luxury estate.
Other celebrities spotted at the exclusive bash included Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Ratajkowski.
Tobey hadn’t been seen in public with a date since his split from Tatiana Dieteman in 2022.
Who is Lily Chee?
The stunning brunette is an aspiring actress who first started out as a model – after she was discovered by a scout in a grocery store!
The New York-based beauty, who turned 20 in September 2023, has a Chinese-Malaysian father and an Irish-Scottish mother.
She has 1.5 million followers on Instagram and was nominated for the Best Breakout YouTuber at the Shorty Awards in 2020.
Her modelling career has seen her star in campaigns for the likes of Valentino, Dior, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.
It’s unclear how the pair met, or how long they’ve been dating for.

Tobey has two children with his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer, to whom he was married for nine years – a son Otis, 15, and a daughter Ruby who, at 17, is only three years younger than Lily!
And while Lily is best known as a model and social media star, she already has a few acting credits up her sleeve, appearing in Netflix medical drama New Amsterdam and in the Marvel Daredevil series.
Whether or not the pair are actually dating, it seems Tobey, like his friend Leonard DiCaprio, has an eye for the younger models – his previous girlfriend Tatiana Dieteman was also a runway regular.
A source told Entertainment Tonight in February 2022 that Maguire and Dieteman had called time on their relationship “a few months ago”.
Maguire previously dated his Spider-Man co-star Kirsten Dunst after meeting on set in 2001.
At the time Dunst told Entertainment Weekly that Maguire was one of the reasons she took on the role of Mary-Jane.
“I wanted to do Spider-Man the minute I found out about it, even before Peter Parker had been cast,” she told the publication. “But as soon as I learned Tobey was doing it, I wanted to do it even more. He’s so talented and adorable, but more than that, he has an immaculate body of work. I had been wanting to work with him for a long, long time.”
Maguire and Dunst split up in 2002, with a source telling Us Weekly at the time that “they’ll probably remain friends”.
