Despite her close relationship with Miley Cyrus, Elsa Pataky has made it clear her loyalty lies with her husband’s brother, Liam Hemsworth.

During a press conference in Madrid earlier this week, the Spanish model— who’s been married to Thor actor Chris for over a decade— unexpectedly put Miley on blast, slamming her for the way she treated Liam.
“My brother-in-law, well… after a relationship that you’ve dedicated ten years to, he’s a little bit down, but he’s coping well, he’s a strong boy and he deserves the best,” the 43-year-old said, according to Hola! magazine. “I think he deserves much better.”
Elsa also revealed she and her husband have been there for Liam every step of the way as he struggles to deal with the fallout from their public and extremely complicated split.
“You always find support in your family, and he’s joined at the hip with [Chris], who has been there to give all the strength he needed,” said Elsa, who was close friends with Miley during the pop star’s decade long relationship with Liam.
Although this is the first time she’s spoken publicly about Liam and Miley’s separation, it’s no secret the mum-of-three has long been furious with the former Disney star’s post-split behaviour.
An insider told Radar Online in October that Elsa is fed up with the way the “Slide Away” singer has been treating him and even issued a stern warning asking her to stop “playing games” with Liam’s heart.
“They are the ones picking up the pieces,” a source close to the situation told the outlet. “And they’ll happily do anything to protect Liam, including shutting Miley out of Liam’s life.”
Earlier this week, the former couple made headlines when a source friendly with the pair revealed they’re planning to reunite to settle their “messy” divorce.
While it will no doubt be an emotionally charged reunion, Liam is said to have request requested a third party be involved during the process amid speculation Miley “turned into a green-eyed monster” when he confirmed his romance with Maddison Brown.
“Miley and Liam have agreed to put their differences aside and meet for mediation talks – before their messy divorce spirals out of control,” a source close to the duo told British publication, Heat World.
“They’ve both calmed down now and Liam just wants this chapter done with, so he can move on. Liam was angry and bitter in the beginning, but his family calmed him down and he started to heal— especially when he realised he was falling in love again.”
While Miley has “promised to play nice” Liam is said to be fearful the “Wrecking Ball” songstress will spiral out of control, with rumours swirling she’s been drunk calling Liam every chance she gets.
“Regardless of whether or not they can be friends and act civilly towards each other, at the end of the day, they want to be done with each other with as little drama as possible. And this meeting is the only way to make that happen.”
As we know, it’s been a trying time for Miley who hit “rock bottom” when she realised her ex-partner of over a decade had unfollowed her on Instagram, just days after he filed for divorce.
According to a well-placed insider who spoke to Radar Online, the Black Mirror actress was “devastated” Liam had totally removed her from his life, with the pal adding “after all that’s been happening with her, she had been distracting herself from it all but now she is really feeling it.”
“She thought somehow they would find their way back to each other and she was holding on to that, but then Liam unfollowed her and that was his way of saying it’s really done,” they dished. “Yeah, Liam is not turning back. It’s quite sad.”
While Liam has risen above Miley’s petty attempts to make him jealous by flaunting her romance with Cody Simpson, it’s been revealed he’s secretly fuming about the drama that’s followed the breakdown of their marriage.
In an unearthed status that was posted to his private Facebook account under the pseudonym Li Hemsworth, he tore into Miley’s new beau for trying to befriend him on social media, claiming “this sh*t is hilarious”, according to NW.
