“Someone had to make this show, right?” Stone, 45, tells WHO over the phone from the LA home he shares with wife Lindsay and kids, Hudson, 9 and Emerson, 6.

Field Trip is a perfect reminder of everything that’s waiting for us once travel is back on the menu,” he explains.

Field Trip sounds like a dream gig. Did you come up with this concept so you could just travel the world with your mates?

Pretty much. It didn’t start as a TV show. The concept of my restaurant, Maude, in Beverly Hills is to cook with one ingredient and build a menu around that. It started to feel like a chore so someone asked, “Why can’t we do wine as the ingredient?” So then it became ,“Let’s go visit wine regions, do some research and make the region the focus.”

What were your favourite locations?

Going to those old European wine regions was pretty special. I was also surprised doing the Australian episode. I’m from there and I’ve been around, but I wanted to show it off to my American counterparts and the crew. We ended up spearfishing in the Kimberleys and learning about Indigenous culture. Australia is such an amazing place!

What do you miss about Oz?

So much, I’m getting so sick of Zoom. This is the longest I’ve been away as I normally manage a trip back a few times a year. I’m missing it bad!

Do your kids like to cook?

My oldest son Hudson is right into it. You name it, he’ll put it in his mouth. He’s he’s becoming a good little cook. The other one won’t come into the kitchen. If I ask him what he wants for lunch, he almost always says chicken nuggets!
