With a self-titled Target Petites fashion line and numerous other projects, Dannii Minogue is as busy as ever.
But that doesn’t mean that she’s all work and no play, with the star ensuring she carves out plenty of time for what’s truly important – being with her teen son Ethan.
“Work used to be everything for me and now I just don’t want to miss out on anything because it’s going too quick,” Dannii told Hello! of her now 14-year-old son in April 2024.
“Ethan is already into his second year of high school, so I feel like I’ve got these next few years where I am really going to be involved and I want to be part of it. I think having that real steady family life helps because I feel grounded.”
Family is definitely a theme that has been on the mind of the entertainer-turned-fashion designers since the COVID lockdowns brought her big sister, Kylie, home to Australia in 2022 after 30 years of living in the UK. The girls, and their brother, news cameraman Brendan, now all live close by the Melbourne home of their parents Ron and Carol.
“Kylie and I watch movies together and she also likes to have one-on-one time with Ethan – he has his movie education through his aunty,” Dannii, 52, told Hello!.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, 55-year-old Kylie was flying back and forth between Oz and Las Vegas for her More Than Just a Residency show at The Venetian. Celebrities including Janet Jackson and Sarah Michelle Gellar headed to Sin City to watch the Aussie pop princess perform.
“It’s been amazing. It’s very different too,” Kylie told People magazine of the time. “I didn’t really know what to expect, but it’s become – it’s like Studio 54!”
When Kylie did come home between gigs, her first stop was her sister’s for dinner.
“Because [Kylie’s] away a lot, she likes me to cook when she comes home,” Dannii told Hello! “I’m always the one who loves to create a party, whether it’s a dinner party or getting lots of people around. I love entertaining.”
Having spent several weeks away in 2023 in the sun-drenched Southern Italian town of Puglia while playing matchmaker on queer dating show, I Kissed a Girl, it doesn’t come as a big surprise that love is also on her mind.
After splitting with Ethan’s dad, Kris Smith, in 2012, Dannii has been dating Australian songwriter and record producer Adrian Newman.
While the pair have been together for over a decade, Dannii reveals we shouldn’t be expecting to see her head down the aisle anytime soon.
“Marriage isn’t on the cards, but we’re just enjoying growing up together and spending time,” she said.
