The US rock legends have now confirmed they’re heading to Australia in 2026 as part of their Take Cover tour – kicking things off with a one-night-only stadium show in Tasmania.

The gig will be their first time Down Under in almost two years, and fans are already hoping this is just the start of a bigger Australian run.

Where are the Foo Fighters touring?

Whilst we’re still hoping that the band will eventually hit the country’s biggest cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide as they have in recent years, the first confirmed stop is Tasmania – and it’s a big one.

This morning, the rockers announced Take Cover Tasmania, a one-night-only stadium show at UTAS Stadium in Launceston on Saturday, January 24, 2026, marking their first-ever Launceston gig and their first live show in Tasmania since 2015.

The show follows a week of cryptic teasing. Tour promoters Frontier Touring first shared a post depicting the Foo Fighters logo displayed above the Eagle Hawk Inn in Hobart, captioned, “Give me a reason, show me a sign,” referencing their song Asking For A Friend and sending fans into a frenzy.

The band’s official social media then joined in, posting a video of an illustrator sketching the Tasmanian Devil from the classic cartoons on a whiteboard with the caption, “TAKE COVER TASSIE!!!” – before the Launceston date was finally revealed.

They’ll be joined in Launceston by Brisbane rockers Full Flower Moon Band and local psych trio Spooky Eyes, making it a huge night for Tassie rock fans.

Where to get tickets for Foo Fighters’ Australian tour

Tickets for Take Cover Tasmania are being released in stages. Frontier Members get first access in a presale running from 1pm AEDT on Monday, December 8, with a strict ticket limit per purchaser.

General public tickets go on sale from 4pm AEDT on Wednesday, December 10 via Frontier Touring and Ticketmaster. Given it’s being billed as a “one-night only” stadium show, fans are being urged to jump in quickly.

Will there be a full Foo Fighters Australian tour?

Right now, Launceston is the only Australian date officially announced – but long-time Fooies fans have seen this play out before. In March 2022, the band played a one-night-only stadium show in Geelong before a full Australia and New Zealand tour was unveiled days later.

The Launceston announcement feels like a déjà vu moment: a regional “one night only” event, a big promo push from Frontier Touring and a lot of social media teasing. While nothing else has been confirmed yet, it’s no surprise fans are already predicting that Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide could follow later in 2026.

When were the Foo Fighters last in Australia?

Whilst it hasn’t been too long since their last visit, the Foo Fighters last toured Australia and New Zealand between November 2023 and January 2024.

2023 was also the year they released their latest studio album But Here We Are, which marked not only their 11th album but their first new music following the death of drummer, Taylor Hawkins.

Which band members will be there?

Currently, all members of the Foo Fighters will be set to perform. They are lead singer and guitarist Dave Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel, guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett, keyboardist Rami Jaffee and their newest member, drummer Ilan Rubin.

The band’s latest single Asking For A Friend, is their first since Ilan joined the band.
