Georgia Love tragically lost her mother shortly after her season of The Bachelorette aired in 2016.
But the reality star has opened up about the special bond she shares with her soon-to-be mother-in-law and how it was actually her own mum who brought them together.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, 32-year-old Georgia shared a sweet throwback selfie featuring herself, fiancé Lee Elliott and his mother Marina Elliott in honour of Marina’s birthday, as well as an old snap of herself and her late mum, Belinda Love.
What’s more, the former Bachelorette revealed that Belinda and Marina share a common bond.
“September 8; forever destined to be a special day for me. It was my Mum’s birthday, today unbelievably the fourth without her. But she made sure when she left she sent me someone equally as special to take care of me in the Mum space, and they even shared a birthday!” Georgia penned in the caption.
“Happy birthday @marinaweddings, you’ll never know just how lucky I feel to have found you and your beautiful family when I found @leeroyelliott. I can’t wait to give you a big birthday squeeze, share a gin or aperol spritz (why not both?!) and to officially become your daughter-in-law!! Love you xx”
Marina even shared her own birthday tribute to Georgia in August on her Instagram page, calling her future daughter-in-law “a loved addition” to the Elliott family.

Love you and looking forward to many more special memory making moments. Enjoy your weekend of celebration! xx” she captioned a sweet photo of herself, Lee and Georgia.
Belinda Love passed away from pancreatic cancer after battling the disease for six months.
Lee shared his own heartfelt dedication to his then-girlfriend’s late mum shortly after her death.
“Words cannot express just how much I truly wish this was a very different post,” Lee penned back in 2016.
“Today is such a mix of emotions. It’s actually not possible for me to be any happier to finally tell the whole world that I have found my soul mate, my best friend and the love of my life in you @georgiealove. You are my everything and my world!
“But at the same time I could not be any more saddened by what you and your family are going through right now. It most certainly puts everything else into perspective and has only reiterated just how much I absolutely want to be there for you & be your rock as you have been mine today and always!
“I feel truly blessed to have finally been able to meet the absolutely extraordinary woman who is your mother. I can certainly now see where your strength, love for life, sense of humour and beauty both inside & out come from!”
Just days after she and Lee announced their engagement news in September 2019, Georgia paid tribute to her mum on what would’ve been her 63rd birthday and remarked how that year was “particularly tough.”
“Happy birthday Maman, I miss you every single day, but this week has been particularly tough. You would have loved seeing me engaged so much, I just have to trust you’re up there having at least this many drinks to celebrate,” she captioned a sweet throwback snap of her mum posing with a cocktail.
Ever the romantic, Lee popped the question on the very same boat he and Georgia sailed on during their first date on The Bachelorette.
“@leeroyelliott, my fiancé, you absolutely outdid yourself with everything about this incredible surprise weekend. I love you so much and can’t wait to marry you!!!!!!” Georgia wrote on Instagram at the time.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Georgia and Lee were forced to cancel their Italian wedding, later suffering another blow when they could no longer celebrate in Tasmania.
However, when critics hit back at the TV journalist for complaining about her cancelled nuptials when many have faced much worse situations, Georgia hit back on Twitter.
The bride-to-be shared a lengthy thread, telling Twitter “you really suck sometimes”, before going into detail about her challenging 2020 that’s seen her report on the devastating bushfires and COVID-19, as well as being in charge of looking after her ageing grandmother and grieving her late mum.
“I have been unable to see my loved ones nor do the things that bring my joy for the majority of this year. So you know what? I’m allowed to comment on the fact it’s a bit s***ty my wedding has been affected too. This does not take away from anyone else’s pain or suffering.”
