From near-breakdowns over a pig snout to snake bites to the face, the campmates endure a lot on the show. And ultimately, it’s why we tune in.

This season is no different, with the celebs already enduring their fair share of challenging moments.

However, co-host Julia Morris revealed to WHO there is one thing that contestants struggle with, time and time again, regardless of who they are or what season they appear on.

It’s not something we see on our screens.

Julia Morris reveals the unexpected challenge for campmates

Morris, who has hosted the beloved reality show for 11 years, told WHO the one thing celebrities constantly complain about is having to do nothing. But wait… before you get out your tiny violin, think about it. How would you manage in the bush without your phone, for weeks at a time?

“Celebrities will ask other celebrities that have been on [the show] from years gone by if they have some tips and tricks. The most difficult thing for everybody is the stillness,” she told WHO.

“I don’t think there’s a way to prepared for the stillness. Anyone who’s trying to keep their celebrity [status] afloat wants to make each opportunity work… but you also don’t necessarily know yourself at your most vulnerable.”

Celebrities can be in The Jungle for days (if not weeks) and when there’s no bush tucker trial to keep them busy, they’re pretty much nothing else to do. Understandably, this is a big challenge.

Unsurprisingly, watching them stare into the abyss for hours at a time doesn’t make the final cut. Thank God.

Behind the scenes changes sparked tension in the camp

Since all the episodes this season were pre-recorded, and live public voting has subsequently been scrapped, the contestants were forced to vote for who would be participating in each trial. This is a new challenge this season.

While you might think being voted in by your fellow campmates to do a bush tucker trial would cause tension (and it no doubt does), unexpected tension is ignited when campmates raise their hand and ask to participate, only to be dismissed.

“It’s interesting because where they are trying to be conciliatory with each other and they’re trying to be cohesive and working as a team, there’s also a deep down ‘I can’t believe you didn’t choose me for that’. And, whether they say it or not, we as an audience know it [is a problem],” Julia told WHO.
