Following a stunning performance of Calum Scott’s tune, “You Are The Reason”  Jack Vidgen was eliminated from last night’s episode of The Voice Australia— missing out on making it to the final round of popular Channel Nine singing competition.

After Sonja Kruger delivered the heartbreaking news— which coaches Kelly Rowland, Delta Goodrem and Boy George said they didn’t see coming—  the Australia’s Got Talent winner vowed to continue performing and growing as an artist.

“This is has just honestly been the most incredible experience of my life,” the 22-year-old contestant on Guy Sebastian’s team said after his elimination. “It’s just been so healing and it’s just – there are no words to describe it. I just want to thank everyone, the whole team, Guy, all of you, just everyone. It’s honestly changed my life and I’m never going to stop singing ever again.”

An emotional Jack continued: “I’ll just be singing this to my future partner. My last relationship, it just didn’t work out. We’ve both moved on and, like, we’re friendly. So I look back at that and it’s, like, it was really beautiful experience for me. The most important thing is to make people feel something and I definitely want to try and melt people’s hearts with this performance.”

Following Jack’s shock elimination, many overly committed and angry fans of The Voice Australia took to Twitter to slam the series.

“AUSTRALIA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ON THE VOICE. I MEAN, SHELDON AND JACK VIDGEN ELIMINATED AT THE SAME TIME? MY HEART BLEW UP,” one user wrote.

Last night’s episode also spelled the end for a number of other Australian artists including Team Guy’s Mitch Paulsen and Chynna Taylor, Team Delta’s All Star contestant Sheldon Riley, and Team George’s Lee Harding, a former Australian Idol contestant.
