Kim Kardashian has revealed that she did not pass the July 2025 California bar exam, marking a fresh setback in her unconventional six-year journey to becoming a practising attorney.
The reality TV star-turned-entrepreneur-turned-law student wrote on her Instagram stories, “Well… I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV”.
“Six years into this law journey and I’m still all in until I pass the bar.”
Kim’s legal journey began in 2019, when she opted for a law-office apprenticeship instead of a traditional law school route.
She passed the so-called “baby bar” in 2021 and the MPRE earlier in 2025, but the full bar exam proved too steep this time.
She added: “Falling short isn’t failure - it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivates me even more.”

All’s Fair savaged by critics with zero-star reviews
The admission coincides with the debut of her new legal drama, All’s Fair, in which she portrays Allura Grant, a high-powered divorce-lawyer at an all-female firm. Produced by Ryan Murphy, the series premiered November 5.
Unfortunately, the show has been savaged by critics.
It opened to a near-universal zero-star reception from major outlets. The Guardian called it “fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible”, while The Times suggested it “may well be the worst television drama ever made.”
The debut also garnered a rare 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.

But Kim remains unperturbed. She responded by reposting both positive viewer comments and scathing critiques on her Instagram stories and joking: “Have you tuned in to the most critically-acclaimed show of the year!?!?!?”
Despite the dual disappointing outcomes, Kim made clear she isn’t giving up on her legal aspirations just yet.
“No shortcuts, no giving up - just more studying and even more determination.”
