Kim Kardashian West is on a roll!
In February the 38-year-old aspiring lawyer filed a lawsuit against fast fashion brand Misguided USA, accusing the online clothing store of knocking off her signature looks and style. Since the court case, she’s been awarded over $2.7 million in damages and another $60k in attorneys’ fees from Missguided, according to TMZ. It’s been reported that the mum-of-four won by forfeit after the fashion company failed to respond to her lawsuit.

In the suit, the reality TV star included photo evidence of her own social media posts side-by-side with clothing company’s posts, proving, according to the judge’s statement, that Missguided “has repeatedly used Kardashian’s name and likeness without permission on its social media platforms to promote the sale of its clothing.”
By using paparazzi shots of Kim sporting clothing they’d knocked off, people were under the illusion the KKW Beauty founder was associated with the brand. As a result, the court has barred the clothing label from using her name to promote their pieces.
Kim has long been vocal about her hatred of fast fashion brands. Earlier this year the reality star blasted Fashion Nova on social media after the company copied one of her looks.
“It’s devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat and tears of true designers who have put their all into their own original ideas,’ Kim penned in a scathing Instagram post. “I’ve watched these companies profit off my husband’s work for years and now that it’s also affecting designers who have been so generous to give me access to their beautiful works, I can no longer sit silent.
She added: “This is a way to get people to sign up for their mailing list and make people believe there is some kind of relationship between me and this fashion site. There is not. “My relationships with designers are very important to me. It’s taken me over a decade to build them and I have a huge amount of respect for the amount of work that they put into bringing their ideas to life. I often plan for weeks, sometimes months, and even a year in advance, and I’m grateful for every fashion moment those designers and their dresses have helped me create.”
It’s likely Kim’s studies helped her win the cast. Earlier this year the beauty mogul told Vogue she’s begun a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco, with the goal of taking the bar in 2022. California, as well as three other U.S. states, currently offer another path (for those who didn’t finish college) to passing the bar by “reading the law,” or apprenticing with a practising lawyer or judge.
“I had to think long and hard about this,” she says of her decision, explaining that she eventually decided to embark on the journey after “seeing a really good result” when she successfully petitioned President Donald Trump to commute the life sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender.
“I never in a million years thought we would get to the point of getting laws passed,” she says. “That was really a turning point for me.”
