It’s the phenomenon that slayed Netflix streaming records back in August and captivated a generation of young fans. And now, a KPop Demon Hunters sequel has been confirmed!

Parents, in particular, will be excited to hear the news that Huntr/x will be returning to the screen – with their kids absolutely enthralled with the film and its catchy songs.
However, fans will be waiting a little while for the girl group’s reunion, with reports that it’s not due for release until 2029.
Netflix has closed deals with the animated hit’s directors, Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and Sony for the sequel, sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
“We’ve set up so much for potential backstory,” Kang told Variety in July of the hoped-for sequel. “Obviously, there’s a lot of questions that are left unanswered and areas that are not explored. We had to do that because there’s only so much movie you could tell in 85 minutes.”

While talent deals are reportedly still being finalised, KPop Demon Hunters star Rei Ami – who voices Zoey – is keen to be back on board.
“I’m waiting for the call, just like you!” she told E! News recently. “You’re gonna find out when I do, so we’ll chat then.”
For the uninitiated, the original animated feature film follows a K-pop idol group called Huntr/x, who moonlight as demon hunters – using their singing voices to seal and maintain a magical barrier to prevent demons from entering the human world.

KPop Demon Hunters has become Netflix’s most popular title ever. It became such a phenomenon when it premiered on the streaming service in August that it went on to have two theatrical release stints for the sing-along version of the film in cinemas.
Meanwhile, three of its original songs — ‘Golden,’ ‘Your Idol’ and ‘Soda Pop’ — have been mainstays on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and are likely to land nominations at the upcoming Grammy Awards. The singers behind the fictional girl group featured in the film – Rei Ami, Ejae and Audrey Nuna – have also been on the campaign trail ahead of award season – where the film is a frontrunner for both animated feature and original song categories. They are next due to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the US later this month.
