Kris Smith opened up about his painful split from Dannii Minogue on Thursday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here.
Chatting to fellow contestant Steve Price for the jungle radio segment, he gave a tell-all interview about their relationship.
He reveals that he met Dannii at a nightclub when he was celebrating his 30th birthday while on holiday.
“I ripped the dance floor up and I turn around and see a woman, she’s in the VIP area,” he explained. “She’s looking at me and I go, ‘Oh, nice.’”
Smith was then approached by Minogue’s security guard.
“He said, ‘What’s your name?’ I asked why. He said, ‘Dannii wants to meet you.’ [Now] she’s the mother of my child,” he said.
The pair soon became inseparable and although Smith ended up postponing his flight thanks to the help of a generous friend.
“I told mates I was on holiday with. A mate, Steve, came up [with] an envelope, a birthday card,” he said.
“He’d bought me a new ticket home and enough to stay there. Without him none of that [relationship and child] happens.”
The couple were together for four years, and share a son, Ethan, together.
Smith said he ended up leaving Minogue because they were constantly fighting.
“It got to a point where Dannii – it wasn’t working for anyone,” he shared.
“We didn’t want to get in silly bickering arguments in front of Ethan. So the hardest thing I’ve had to do was leave.
“[Ethan]was very young but I didn’t ever want to see him in an environment where it’s a little bit bitter or argumentative.
“All I ever wanted in life was to settle down with one woman and have kids with one woman,” he said.
He later added: “Yeah, it absolutely ripped my heart out but it was for the best.”
Smith was evicted from the jungle on last night’s episode, along with The Bachelor’s Keira Maguire.
