MAFS groom Sam slams ‘ridiculous’ excuse in unseen footage of Chris and Gia belittling him

There’s serious trouble in paradise for Sam and Chris, the couple who (up until now) had been a firm fan favourite. In last night’s MAFS episode, Sam explained he was blindsided when Chris told the experts all about their after-the-experiment plans, claiming none of it had been discussed with him before being publicised.

While airing his grievances to the group around the dinner table, Sam was distracted by Chris and Gia making mocking faces at each other while he attempted to explain how he was feeling.

After claiming he hadn’t received a “genuine” apology from Chris, Sam later tried to move forward after Chris apologised to him in front of the group.

However, unseen footage has revealed that what Chris said in front of the group, compared to what he said to producers with Gia by his side, was very different.

“I apologised for something five times that I didn’t even need to apologise for,” Chris said to the camera on the same night as the dinner party.

He continued by mocking Sam’s way of life while Gia laughed beside him.

“I’m sorry babe, you share accommodation with three other people and you don’t pay for dinner, I’ve paid for every single f–king dinner,” he said. “And he was all about coupons too… he had the coupons all out ready to f–king go.

“When we went to pay for dinner, he once got his card and kind of stalled, and I f–king paid for dinner,” Chris said.

The footage was aired on MAFS: After The Dinner Party, with Sam sitting with hosts Laura Bryne, Brittany Hockley and Jules Lund.

“It’s just bulls–t. The way it sort of worked is I’d buy all the food for the house and we’d go out once a week, and he’d pay for that, and we were like, it’s much of a muchness. It probably evens out,” Sam said in response.

“The fact we’re having to defend that is ridiculous.”

The ‘red flag’ that made fans suspicious of Chris

While fans are devastated the couple is starting to crumble apart, the budding friendship between Chris and Gia had them questioning his character.

With Gia constantly involved in other couples’ drama (Bec and Danny’s, Alissa and David’s, Rachel and Steven’s… wait, pretty much everyone), fans were suspicious when Chris started to get on so well with her.

Seeing Chris and Gia mock Sam at the dinner party was definitely a hint that Chris holds similar values to the bride.

“The fact he’s friends with Gia was a red flag in itself,” one fan wrote online. “Sam deserves so much better!”.

Others said they weren’t surprised that Gia’s “nastiness” was spread onto Chris and Sam’s relationship. Many viewers showed their support for Sam, praising his “integrity” and slamming the “disgusting” comments Chris and Gia made behind the scenes.

“When will people learn that talking badly about someone else like this just makes them look bad!” another fan said online.
