After the high drama and ongoing fallout from Married At First Sight’s ninth season, some might be shocked to find that season 10 is officially underway.

But then again, it is the drama that keeps us coming back for more, so as production of a new season begins, we can’t help but wonder excitedly about what the team are cooking up for us this time around.
Paparazzi photos have shown that season 10 has officially begun, with photos of the brides heading out on their hens night being published in August by The Daily Mail.
We assume shortly we will begin to see photos of the couples going to dinner parties and commitment ceremonies together – or apart – but so far, all we’ve seen are a group of girls getting ready to kiss goodbye to singledom (for a bit, anyway).
So far, it seems only one of the women has been recognised as Melinda Willis, a flight attendant-turned beautician who lives in Brisbane.
Her Instagram already boasts 150,000 followers, including former MAFS contestants Jason Engler and KC Osborne, who we’re sure can give her some advice on the undertaking.
The inclusion of Melinda in the cast seems to be following on from a trend of bringing more people with ‘influence’ into the cast, which began this year with Brent Vitiello.
The show’s tenth season has already come under fire for claims that production was attempting to cast widows for the show.
One woman told Yahoo! Lifestyle that her widowed friend was approached by the show’s producers.
“They are looking for a widow and literally messaging all the ladies that she knows that have and are going through this trauma and some are very recent.”
Recent bride, Olivia Frazer, addressed the rumours, saying she “absolutely believe that they are seeking out widows”.
“They have storylines that they want to run with,” she said on Instagram.
However, Nine were quick to shut down the rumours, with a representative telling our sister site New Idea that “The casting of the next season of MAFS is not targeting those who have recently lost their partner”.
As for the upcoming season, production are going in with zero success stories from season nine.
August saw the only two remaining couples from the season, Olivia Frazer and Jackson Lonie, and Carolina Santos and Daniel Holmes, announce their respective splits just hours apart.
While many of the cast seem to remain great friends, there are no more relationships to speak of.
However, the show does have a growing number of couples that have made it work, scattered here and there.
Most recently, Kerry Knight and Johnny Balbuziente have announced their engagement after meeting on season eight of the show.
Melissa Rawson and Bryce Ruthven, who met on the same season, are also going strong. The pair are engaged and share twin boys, Levi and Tate.
