NEED TO KNOW
- Contestants had 60 minutes to make their ‘ultimate breakfast’ during Sunday’s episode.
- Alita, Dot, Aaron and Kanika won the challenge, and were awarded immunity against the next elimination.
Amongst all the food and bubbling chaos in the MasterChef kitchen, it appears some fans of the show are determined to grumble about the judges. And, during Sunday night’s episode (when contestants were cooking up their ‘ultimate breakfasts’), Poh’s outfit was in the firing line.
While the cooks competed for immunity as they made their favourite breakfasts, the judges wandered around the kitchen benches and interacted with the contestants, as always.
However, despite Poh offering kind insight and guidance to the increasingly stressed cooks during the 60 minute challenge, fans started to question why she was wearing a “nightie” in the kitchen, and thoughts were varied.
“Is Poh getting married after filming the episode?” one fan asked.
The judge wore a white lace slip dress with a cardigan of similar material, completed with white hoop earrings.
MasterChef fans divided over Poh’s outfit
The judges’ outfits have been playful this season, especially Poh and Sofia’s.
There was even a moment when the two women complimented a contestant’s skirt she was wearing, adding a fun additional layer to the show while fans also admire the beautiful food being made.
However, Poh’s “nightie” in Sunday’s episode was debated over, with some pointing out that wearing white in the kitchen is a risky move, while others pushed back against the rhetoric that women need to wear something sensible to be taken seriously.
“Everyone has a different style of dressing, That’s hers. Respect!” one fan wrote online amongst the discourse.
“I thought it was her nightie to eat breakfast in,” another explained, while a third said they loved Poh’s “confidence”.
Fashion aside, four contestants – Alita, Dot, Aaron and Kanika – were gladly awarded immunity and join Casper, who had already won immunity before the episode.
MasterChef judges have been taking the heat this season
While MasterChef is generally celebrated for being one of the most wholesome reality TV shows in Australia, there has been some notable negativity flung at the judges this season.
Many have asked for a shakeup of judges, with many reminiscing about the time when Jock Zonfrillo was on the show alongside Andy Allen and Melissa Leong.
The judge passed away suddenly three years ago, prompting a change in the judging line-up.
