Tuesday night’s MasterChef service challenge saw contestants face off in teams of two, led by judges Andy Allen and Jean-Christophe Novelli. But while fans were thrilled to get the challenge they had been begging for, many found themselves entirely distracted by Novelli’s appearance in the kitchen.

Dressed in his traditional chef whites, the French culinary icon left viewers hot and bothered. Even fellow judge Andy Allen couldn’t resist, openly calling Jean-Christophe “sexy.”

The episode was a hotly (pun intended) anticipated one, as fans took to social media in the lead-up to share their excitement at the idea of seeing Novelli – affectionately dubbed JC – in uniform.

“Finally, a service challenge. And with JC in chef whites. The week just gets better,” one wrote on Reddit.

“Unimaginable amount of thirst projected for tomorrow,” another quipped.

“And he turns up in chef whites, JC, why you doing this to us?” one fan questioned, with another responding, “He’s such a sexy boi (sic).”

Other fans shared their love of Jean-Christophe’s personality, with one viewer writing on one of his Instagram posts, “I’m loving this personality that is coming out this season, part crazy Frenchman, part Minion, brilliant and entertaining.”

Resurfaced Jean-Christophe Novelli photo has fans going wild

This isn’t the first time the chef has turned heads.

A resurfaced photo from 2004 recently went viral, proving Novelli has been a heartthrob for decades. Fans reacted wildly to the throwback picture, with viewers saying the young chef looked “fantastique” and “unbelievably good.”

“Like a fine wine, he ages well,” one fan noted — and it’s hard to disagree.

However, it’s not just the Frenchman’s dashing good looks that have viewers swooning – with several fans sharing their appreciation for his mentoring style, too.

Jean Christophe vs Andy Allen

During the service challenge episode, social media was flooded with comments about how different Novelli’s judging and coaching style was from Andy’s.

“JC actually helping his team,” one person wrote. “Andy just sowing seeds of doubt in his team.”

“JC is being very supportive & also being a mentor; Andy’s just bitching,” another person tweeted, while another said, “Love how hands-on and helpful JC is.”

“Ohhh, JC. Just the bestest,” someone else gushed. “Actually teaching and encouraging the orange gang”

“Poor JC looked so sorrowful and apologetic at his Orange team not getting the win,” one Novelli fan added. “It’s a shame, especially since JC seemed to do a lot more actual mentoring than Andy did…”

Jean-Christophe Novelli’s TV career

After appearing on shows such as Hell’s Kitchen, Celebrity X Factor, Jonathan Ross, Alive – Back to the Andes, Comic & Sport Relief, Celebrity Cribs, Family Fortunes, Shooting Stars, Bargain Hunt, Children in Need, Cooking With The Stars, his American show Chef Academy, and Celebrity Hunted UK, Novelli joined MasterChef in April 2024, a year after judge Jock Zonfrillo’s tragic passing.

Prior to this, he’d made several appearances on the UK version of the show.

Despite being kicked out of school at just 14 years old, he went on to build a seriously exceptional life for himself, training in some of France’s top kitchens and becoming a private chef for the late billionaire Elie de Rothschild.

In 1996, he opened Maison Novelli in Clerkenwell, London, a restaurant that quickly gained acclaim for its elegant French cuisine.

Novelli has earned himself four individual Michelin stars over the course of his career at Gordleton Mill in Hampshire, the Four Seasons Hotel in London, and Maison Novelli.

Talk about impressive!
