The season six favourite is married to fellow chef Max Sharrad – and the two may not have met if it wasn’t for judge Jock Zonfrillo!

Laura and Max first crossed paths in 2015 when they worked alongside each other at Jock’s restaurant Orana.

“I knew from day one. I could just tell, it was love at first sight,” Max told The Adelaide Advertiser. “That is where the attraction first happened.”

Max popped the question on a romantic trip to Tuscany, Italy at sunset – and there were plenty of happy tears.

“As soon as he pulled out the little box, I just started crying and blubbering … I cried the whole time. It was simply beautiful, just perfect,” Laura revealed, with Max adding that it “all worked out really well”.

“Though she didn’t really say yes, she was just crying and nodding. But I’m stoked. She’s the woman of my dreams.”

The couple tied the knot at a picturesque wedding in the Barossa Valley in 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

“2018, you were the best year of our lives. Can we please do it all again?” Laura wrote in a tribute at the end of the year alongside several wedding photos.

The MasterChef star continued: “Miss to a Mrs, couldn’t have done it without the ones we love. A year that’s left us with memories to last a lifetime, a truly special year we will never forget. Other than my husband Max, the biggest mention of all goes to my best friend @georgiaahughes .. I couldn’t haven’t it without you. X”

Laura and Max aren’t just partners in life, but also in business. The couple co-own pasta restaurant Nido Bar And Pasta in their hometown of Adelaide and it’s in the kitchen where Max says he can “trust her to do everything.”

“She has strengths where I might not have them, like making those delicate little pasta shapes and the intricacies of pastry. My mind goes at a million miles an hour so I might not have the patience for that. Her strengths play to my weaknesses, and vice-versa,” he explained.

Though she and her husband are in the same industry, Laura has spoken to TV WEEK that she’s had to make a few sacrifices to come back on MasterChef and hopefully take home the $250,000 prize money.

“Not only had I left my husband Max back at home in Adelaide, but our business too. Everyone’s made sacrifices to be on the show, but I used that as fuel to push me in every cook.”

Will the pasta queen claim the crown at the end of the series?
