According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinema has purchased the pitch for Margie Claus, a holiday-themed musical which will feature Melissa McCarthy as the wife of a missing Santa Claus.
McCarthy will be headlining and debuting her singing talents. The actress is also going to produce the film alongside her husband Ben Falcone. Falcone will also direct, from a script written by him and Damon Jones.
The plot of the film is based on McCarthy’s character, who decides to leave the North Pole for the first time in years when Santa Claus goes missing on Christmas Eve.
McCarthy was last viewed on the big screen in Ghostbusters and The Boss.
Margie Claus will hit cinemas in late 2019, ahead of Christmas.
