Nearly 20 years after the release of The Devil Wears Prada in 2006, we have big news. And that news is that Miranda Priestly could be returning to our screens after a hiatus.
Last July, news broke that we would be receiving a sequel and that the film was officially in the works at Disney.
In January 2025, Stanley Tucci (who plays the iconic Nigel) shared with Variety, “I know they’re working on it. If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I’ll go to the actor’s prison or something. [The original] was one of the best experiences ever.”
So now we have official confirmation that the sequel is in production. Here is everything we know.

Is there going to be a The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Yes! It has been confirmed that Miranda Priestly will be returning, with reports sharing that Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt will reprise their roles as Miranda and Emily.
Early reports hint that Miranda will face off against Emily Charlton, who’s now a power player in fashion herself. One can only hope she still dreams of Paris — but this time, she’s got the corner office and the Chanel boots.
As for Andy? We are not sure yet, but if she does come back, here’s hoping she’s learned how to spell Gabbana.
Disney has confirmed that the sequel is coming to screens in May 2026. Yes, that means more icy stares, impossible lattes and journeys to find unpublished Harry Potter books.

What is The Devil Wears Prada about?
So what even happened in the first film? If you haven’t watched it, add it to your list now!
Wide-eyed aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) lands a job at Runway magazine as the assistant to fashion editor Miranda Priestly, a dream gig “a million girls would kill for.”
Clueless about couture but desperate to succeed, Andy climbs the ranks after a few hiccups, only to realise the cost of succeeding is making her lose her friends, her boyfriend and herself.
After some major work dramas, a trip to Paris and a full makeover, Andy eventually chooses herself over Prada.

Who is starring in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
We don’t officially know who will be returning for the sequel, but we do know that it’s going to be good.
Emily Blunt, however, has since spoken with Entertainment Tonight, implying that there might be a Miranda/Emily standoff.
“Why are Meryl and I so mean to each other in every movie we do?” Blunt said. “We always have beef with each other. I don’t know what it is. Let’s hope we remedy it. I’m not sure.”
So will we see the reprise of Emily taking over the fashion world? Only time will tell.
When is The Devil Wears Prada 2 out?
