If you thought Robert De Niro’s character in Meet the Parents was rough on Greg Focker (Ben Stiller), then meet Mr Black. Played by Stephen Curry in Channel 10’s new comedy series of the same name, he makes hard to please an artform. Watch the trailer below.
Mr Black is currently airing on Channel 10, with the first couple of episodes available on 10 Play and 10 All Access. The show focusses on Mr Peter Black, who moves in with his daughter, Angela (Sophie Wright), and her hipster boyfriend, Fin (Nick Russell) – and quickly makes life hell for the latter.
From withering put-downs to full-on interrogations to pop quizzes, Mr Black (he insists Fin call him that) makes it clear he doesn’t think much of Fin and that he certainly isn’t worthy of his daughter. And his obnoxious behaviour doesn’t end there – Mr Black is fairly awful to everyone he comes into contact with.
Rounding out the cast is Nadine Garner, who plays Mr Black’s not-quite-ex-wife, Rowena, who says she likes all the people her estranged husband hates and helps Fin in his efforts to take on Mr Black; and Paul Denny as Malcolm, Mr Black’s buddy.
The show was created and co-written by Adam Zwar, who previously co-created and starred in Wilfred.
