The MasterChef kitchen might be all about precision, pressure and perfectly plated dishes, but there’s clearly a little more chaos happening behind the scenes.
It’s something we certainly got a glimpse of this season, with the judges sharing plenty of hilarious moments when they weren’t critiquing dishes. From Andy Allen sporting a wig to Poh Ling Yeow and Sofia Levin being surprised by Petro‘s singing abilities in the back of an Uber, there’s been lots of fun snippets keeping us entertained.
However, WHO just uncovered another, and it revolves around a very mysterious photo Sofia shared on Facebook, which left us with one very important question: what on earth was going on?
We couldn’t help but ask Gold Logie nominee Poh about it on the red carpet at the 2026 TV WEEK Logie Awards on August 16, and her answer left us with more questions!
What was the mysterious MasterChef photo?
The photo shows a MasterChef call sheet with three bananas placed on top and the words “banana three ways” written at the bottom.
Poh’s answer kept the mystery alive
Poh looked shocked, and somewhat confused, when she was shown the photo.
“I’m not sure, but we do get up to a lot of mischief on the show,” she replied. “I plead the fifth.”
We’re even more curious now!
A big night for Poh and the MasterChef family at the 2026 Logie Awards
The cheeky red carpet moment came during a big night for Poh, who was among the seven nominees for the top prize this year.
The judge was nominated for the coveted Gold Logie alongside some of Australia’s biggest TV personalities, but it was Sam Pang who ultimately took home the top prize.
There was still plenty to celebrate for the MasterChef family, with the series taking home Best Competition Reality Program at the awards.
And honestly, after a night of red carpets, awards and plenty of behind-the-scenes “mischief”, we’re still no closer to finding out what those three bananas were doing there.
