With an equal split of men and women for the first time, plus the oldest contestant in Alone Australia history, this season is full of firsts. Expect next-level bushcraft, jaw-dropping shelter builds, and survival skills pushed to remarkable new extremes. Karla, 35
Expedition Leader, QLD
“I want to find out if I really know my s–t, or if I’m full of it,” Karla declares. And that’s what we want to know, too. When she’s not on a ship leading expeditions across the globe, this seasoned big-game hunter is travelling around Australia, living a nomadic life out of her 4WD.
Eva, 31
Rewilding Facilitator, NSW
Eva lives off-grid in a cabin in the hinterlands of NSW and runs her own outdoor education school. Sure the $250,000 prize money would be nice, but this committed forager also sees the challenge as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to go deeper than ever into her connection with nature.
Corinne, 38
Food Safety Consultant, TAS
Raised in the rural highlands of Scotland, Corinne now lives alone on 10 acres of suburban bushland in the south of Tasmania. She knows all about the cold, the wet and isolation. Foraging is her survival forte, leading her to start a successful bushfood business, but she’s never killed an animal before.
Ceilidh, 34
Disability Services Officer, QLD
She might lead a suburban life, but this certified carpenter escapes to the wild whenever possible, indulging her passion for fishing and foraging. Deaf since birth, she’s strong and resilient and wants to inspire young kids, particularly girls, in the Deaf community.
Ben, 38
English Teacher, SA
The former footy player reckons he’s just as comfortable quoting Shakespeare as he is gutting a rabbit. These things might just help him pass the time and survive in the Tassie wilderness, but his bush skills were honed in South Australia’s drier outback. Will they help him in the wet, forest environment?
Yonke, 52
Farmer & Permaculturalist, VIC
She’s a single mother, managing a 20-acre permaculture farm in rural Victoria while raising an 11-year-old daughter and twin teenage boys – no wonder she wants some time alone! Yonke is also a passionate fisher who says foraging is her great strength.
Tom, 33
Ecologist, NSW
“I don’t think you go into something like this without being a little unhinged. All 10 of us are bats–t crazy.” You said it, Tom! But Tom, born without his right hand due to a congenital condition, knows a thing or two about confronting challenges. The biggest test for this at-home dad will be missing his family.
Matt, 31
Indigenous Youth Worker, WA
Identifying as a Yanyuwa, Waanyi/Garawa man, Matt’s deep connection to culture stems from the teachings of Aboriginal elders and community leaders from Yawuru – Broome – where he lives rurally with his wife and two children.
Muzza, 63
Bushman, VIC
The oldest-ever participant on Alone Australia, Muzza is quick to remind everyone that age is just a number. He’ll miss his wife of 44 years, but the big challenge for this young-at-heart, adventurous retiree will be whether or not his body can withstand an unforgiving Tasmanian winter.
Shay, 30
Professional Trapper, NZ
Shay has crossed the ditch to take part and he’s vowed not to go home in a hurry. “It might sound crazy, but I’m going to be there for 300 days.” Yes, Shay, that does sound crazy. But his motivation to take home the prize money so he can secure a future for his family might just get him there.
