In the Big Brother Australia house, even Christmas spirit isn’t safe.
Last night’s episode (December 2) delivered the season’s first snap eviction, with 21-year-old barber Vinnie Brigante sent home in the early hours of the morning after only a few hours of public voting.
What started as a silly late-night carolling challenge quickly escalated into one of the most talked-about moments of the season, leaving viewers reeling.
With the finale just days away, Big Brother has clearly decided it’s time to turn the screws.

What happened in the Christmas carol twist?
The drama kicked off when the housemates were jolted awake by bells ringing through the Dreamworld house.
Half-asleep, they were told to throw on festive outfits and race to a “concert stage” every time they heard the chime, performing Jingle Bells as part of the weekly shopping task. What they didn’t know was that another game was playing out at the same time.
After a tense round of live nominations left Vinnie, Coco and Emily facing the public vote – with Head of House Colin saving Allana – host Mel Tracina revealed that voting would only be open for a few hours, with a snap eviction to follow.

Edward’s 10-point “gift” during nominations had also dumped a massive 16 points on Vinnie, putting him in a dangerous position.
As the housemates launched into yet another round of Jingle Bells on the makeshift stage, Big Brother switched the lyrics in the final verse. Instead of a cheery Christmas line, the song revealed that voting had closed – and that Vinnie was the housemate Australia had chosen to evict.
He was given just 30 seconds to say his goodbyes before leaving the house still dressed in holiday gear.

Viewers watching the scene unfold on social media labelled the move “brutal”, “cruel”, “low-key evil” and even “psychological torture”, arguing that blindsiding a housemate mid-carol, in the middle of the night, pushed the show into especially harsh territory.
Others, though, admitted they loved the sheer chaos of it all, calling the moment “so cruel yet kind of awesome” and praising Big Brother for finally leaning back into the unpredictable energy of the older seasons as the game heads into its final stretch.
How Vinnie’s exit shakes up the final week
Vinnie’s Christmas eviction is just the latest hit in what’s become a very intense run-up to the finale.
Days earlier, Abiola chose to walk after taking a $15,000 temptation from Big Brother – shrinking the overall prize pool from $100,000 to $85,000 in exchange for leaving on the spot. Holly then followed as the next evictee in a public vote, ending her rollercoaster run and highly scrutinised in-house romance.
In a season that’s already been described as a pressure cooker, Vinnie’s shock exit has only heightened the sense that no one can afford to relax – not even while singing Christmas carols.

When is the Big Brother Australia 2025 finale and how can I watch?
Big Brother Australia’s 2025 reboot on Network 10 is set to wrap up on Monday, December 8, with the finale crowning the winner and awarding the remaining $85,000 prize.
New episodes air on Channel 10 at 7.30pm (AEDT) Monday to Friday and 7.00pm (AEDT) on Sundays, with full episodes and the 24/7 live stream available on 10 Play if you want to revisit the Christmas carol twist or keep an eye on the house as the last evictions play out.
If Big Brother is willing to turn Jingle Bells into an eviction announcement, the final week is almost guaranteed to come with more shocks – and possibly a few more restless nights for the housemates.
