From the football field to the mountains of Argentina, father-son duo Billy and Oscar Brownless are hoping to transfer their teamwork skills to the global stage – competing alongside one another in the latest series of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.
Joining many of Australia’s most beloved stars, the two Geelong AFL legends may be prepared to overcome some of the season’s biggest challenges, but aside from the $100,000 grand prize, Billy also shared how their globe-trotting travels helped to rekindle their family bond.
“You live together when you are younger, then he moved out with his mates for a while and then, all of a sudden, we are back together, so it was interesting,” Billy told Daily Mail.
Looking back on their Amazing Race experience, Billy continued, “We flew together everywhere, we ate together everywhere, we drank together everywhere, and because it is a budget experience, we had the same room… Sometimes there was only one double bed, so we had to share that.”

Geelong AFL star Billy Brownless shares four children with his ex-wife Nicky – Oscar, Ruby, Lucy, and Max.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Oscar joined the Geelong Amateur AFL team in early 2024.
While the AFL star’s family has kept largely out of the public eye, Billy reunited with ex-wife Nicky and their four children to celebrate daughter Ruby’s engagement in March 2023.
“The most magical night celebrating our engagement party. Such a perfect night with our beautiful friends and family,” Ruby wrote to Instagram.
