After seven months of secret dates and off-camera phone calls, The Golden Bachelor Australia’s newest couple, Bear Myrden and Sunny Long, are finally public with their relationship.

WHO spoke exclusively to the pair after the finale aired on Sunday night.

“We had a street party outside my place in Colac,” Bear shared of the post-finale plans. “There were maybe 60 to 80 people. It was a great time.”

Sunny and her daughters even surprised him mid-celebration. “They popped in at the appropriate time and surprised everyone, including me. It was fabulous,” Bear grinned.

Reflecting on the very beginning feels surreal now for both of them, but they recall the moment their journey began — albeit in different ways.

“I was petrified,” Sunny admitted.

“I’m new to that environment… 19 women in one place! It felt like a backpacker’s. I was thinking, ‘At my age, I need my own bathroom!’”

Bear, meanwhile, had a few days of filming before meeting the women. “They were so nervous that I was calming them down. I didn’t really focus on myself — I was more focused on each lady who came in.”

Sunny still melts, recalling what she saw later on TV. “He’s so caring. He always tried to make sure they were comfortable. Such a genuine gentleman. That’s how he captured the hearts of everyone… and then definitely mine.”

Are Bear and Sunny still together?

Very much so! And smitten at that.

With both now officially out in the world as a couple, blending their families is the next big chapter.

Bear says he wouldn’t have done the show without the support of his three sons. “They came in at different levels, but they all supported me. My youngest didn’t want to be on television — he’s shy — but they were all behind me. That was a major factor.”

Sunny’s daughters have been equally encouraging. “They told me, ‘Mum, just go up there.’ They encouraged me all the way.”

“Last night, my two daughters met Charlie for the first time,” Sunny shared. “They were acting like they’d known each other a long, long time. The bond they created instantly really melted my heart. It’s a beautiful extra bonus.”

What’s next for Bear and Sunny?

“We’re going to let it happen organically,” Bear shared. “The priority is integrating the two families. Christmas is coming. We have decisions to make, but no rush.”

“We know it won’t always be rosy — we have to work, compromise, discuss things. But we’re starting on a really good foundation,” Sunny added.

There’s even a practical bonus: “Our places are within half an hour,” she laughed. “It’s meant to be!”

Seven months of secrecy later, they’re finally stepping into real life together. And if their ease, affection and laughter are anything to go by, this golden love story is only just beginning.
