Love Island Australia 2026 has just released its launch date, and the show is already facing backlash.

This year, the show will air on Monday, October 26 and will be set in Love Island USA’s Villa in Fiji.

However, this villa takeover isn’t the only twist this season, with host Sophie Monk telling WHO that season eight’s love triangles and cast will “blow [your] mind”.

“Everything clicked to make the most amazing reality television I’ve ever seen in my whole life,” Monk said.

While fans tune in every season to see hot, young singles fall in and out of love (or lust) in a luxury villa, what they didn’t tune in for was an editing style that has taken over a lot of Australia’s reality TV shows in recent years: AI.

What was in the Love Island Australia promo?

The teaser for the 2026 season featured Sophie Monk getting thrown the keys to the Love Island USA villa.

It then features Monk saying the villa needs some “Ausification”, followed by some elements that have caused Meta to label the video as ‘AI Content’.

This includes two shirtless men walking in with a barbecue and esky before hanging up a portrait of Vegemite, and a couple with the labels ‘Tim and Tam’ on their swimmers (a nod to a famous Aussie sweet treat, of course).

Fans lash out at AI use: ‘straight up embarrassing’

While many fans were excited by the premiere announcement, a lot of comments pointed out the use of AI in the video, calling it “absolutely devastating seeing Aussie TV turn to AI”.

“We would’ve preferred last year’s villa if it meant you could actually afford to make a promo video without using AI,” one fan commented online.

“NOOOO first The Block with AI now Love Island we can’t escape,” another agreed.

“Can someone explain to me what it is with Aussie TV and AI?? Like the music and these “boys”. It truly makes the quality so ugh,” a third questioned.

“The fact they used AI is just straight up embarrassing,” another user claimed.
