For many, Married at First Sight is all about the love. Which is fair enough considering the show is an experiment focused on marriage.
But there’s another type of relationship fans love to keep a close eye on – and no, it’s not the feuds.
The power of friendship, that’s what we’re here for. Whilst the romantic pairings may be fleeting, the show has been known to build solid friendships that have spanned years.
Is it trauma bonding? The grouping of similar personalities? The desire to branch out into the podcast space? We may not have the answers yet, but we do know a bit about which 2024 contestants are still friendly post-filming.
Which contestants are still friends from MAFS 2024?
For some, like Sara and Lauren, it’s clear the experiment saw them become true friends. Scroll through Sara’s Instagram account and it’s clear the two have hung out since filming the show last year and even went on a girl’s trip to Bali together!
Despite falling out with Tim, Lucinda Light is still close with a number of fellow contestants. In September 2024, she took to Instagram to share her thoughts on Jonothan’s ‘edit’ during the season, telling fans she believed her friend had received “the worst edit.”
“Everytime anyone asks me, who got the worst edit on MAFS~ my immediate answer is @jono.mccullough,” she wrote alongside a series of snaps of the pair. “It’s like every wet rag moment Jono ever had, they stitched together! I will vouch for J until the day I die.”
“[His] relationship with our fabulous Lauren was chalk & cheese and not right from the beginning,” she continued. “He’s such a great guy & as a friend, it’s been rough to watch how awful at times the public have been to him…Luckily Jono knows himself well and is resilient enough to rise above it and get on with life & enjoy it regardless.”
“Anyway bro~ Thanks for being a really great friend. Our beautiful @andreathompson_andie is right~ you’re one of the best dudes and indeed a keeper. Happy birthday legend. Love you xxx”
In July 2024 Lucinda shared a sweet snap of herself alongside Tristan and Cassandra, telling her Instagram followers that she misses “these two scrumptious humans.”
Lucinda took to Instagram shortly after the experiment to share how close she and fellow MAFS bride Andrea were during filming.
“I changed my flight to Byron Bay right after leaving the experiment and headed straight to Andi’s place on the Sunshine Coast,” she shared with followers. “What an amazing time we had, talking day and night, dining, going to the beach, doing our hair, giggling, and just being silly soul sisters ✨”
“Andi has been there for me since the hens night, and I adore her!” she continued. “Andi~ you’re incredibly beautiful, both inside and out! You’re a quirky, kind, and a creative soul, just my type of sweetheart.”
“Thank you for welcoming me into your beautiful boho beach shack and embracing me with open arms, angel. You feel like home after this unique experience we shared. Love you!”
Are Timothy and Andrea dating?
After a video on a MAFS gossip Instagram page hinted at a post-show romance between Andrea and Timothy (who watched the reunion episode together), the 51-year-old bride spoke to New Idea.
Describing their relationship as simply “beautiful friends,” she shut down relationship rumours. “There’s nothing romantic there,” she told the publication. “I adore him, and he adores me.” Adding, “He’s been a rock to me at times.”
During the interview, she also revealed that the “best part of the experiment” for her had been the friends that she left with.
“The people with kind hearts found each other in the experiment which has been really special.”
Is Tori in contact with anyone from MAFS?
Despite being close to a number of contestants early in the season – particularly with Lauren – the end of the season saw Tori confirm she would hang out with “none” of the contestants after the experiment.
Audiences witnessed Tori and Lauren’s friendship disintegrate during a tense dinner party, with Lauren pointing out that Tori was the only contestant not to reach out to her during her surgery.
“I’m going to be f***ing real with you all,” Tori declared at the table, as their argument reached a boiling point. “After this, [there is] no one at this table…I would want to spend time with after this experiment. None.”
“I just can’t believe she would say something that cruel,” Laren told the cameras after the tense conversation. “It’s not good…my friendship with Tori is completely fractured.”
So is this the end of one of the strongest friendships of the season? Will Tori stay true to her word and not contact her fellow contestants after filming? We’ll have to wait till and see!
Are Lauren and Eden friends?
Despite appearing friendly during the season, it appears Lauren and Eden’s relationship hit a speed bump.
Yahoo reported that Eden, Lauren and Jayden were all enjoying a night out together before Eden headed home.
“Jayden wasn’t talking to Eden at all which was very noticeable and made everyone feel uncomfortable, so she decided to go home when they went from one club to another,” a source told the publication. “At the next venue, Jayden and Lauren arrived arm in arm and were very close the whole night. She was all over him, but he was definitely enabling it.”
Eden spoke with the Daily Mail, slamming the pair’s behaviour as disrespectful. “I think both of their behaviour on that night was quite disrespectful of me,” she told the outlet. “It felt almost a little bit intentional from Lauren’s half to hurt my feelings, and maybe Jayden as well.”
Labelling the behaviour as “inappropriate and a bit trashy,” she continued: “I feel a little bit embarrassed by it if I’m being completely honest. However, I think it’s more embarrassing for them than it is for me.”
Lauren has also spoken out about the “drama,” downplaying the footage and brushing off any romance rumours. “I’m definitely not making a move on Jayden. Not Jayden, the kid’s about six years younger than me, and he’s just, he’s not for me,” she said. “And he’s with Eden, apparently.”
Whilst Jayden and Eden split shortly after the controversy, it seems the events also saw Lauren and Eden’s friendship come to an end, with fans noticing the pair have not been photographed together since.
