After weeks of dinner table tension and contestants taking aim at each other, My Kitchen Rules fans finally got an episode where the food did most of the talking. Imagine that!
Monday night’s Instant Restaurant saw Queensland mother-daughter duo Krysten and Lucy pull off a seriously impressive redemption, scoring 92 points and shooting straight to the top of the leaderboard.
But it wasn’t just their cooking that had viewers cheering. Fans were also loving the change of pace, with the teams actually supporting each other instead of turning every dinner into a battlefield.
Sure, Sheridan still clashed with Alisha and Deanne, and Angus and Simon managed to drag the pescatarian debate back onto the menu. But compared to some of the explosive episodes we’ve had lately, this one was practically a group hug. And viewers were very much here for it.
Speaking to WHO, contestants Alisha and Deanne lifted the lid on the competitive mood as the original teams prepared to take on the Gatecrashers, while fans at home made it clear they’d love to see more episodes like this one.
MKR fans want more food and less fighting

Fans took to social media after the episode, with plenty celebrating the fact that everyone seemed a little more focused on the cooking and a little less interested in starting an argument.
“So good to have a night of great food and very little drama. Wish it was like this every night,” one viewer wrote.
Honestly, we can see the appeal. A delicious meal, some friendly competition and nobody storming away from the table? What a concept.
Another viewer compared the Australian series with international versions of the show, writing: “I have watched all episodes of MKR South Africa, New Zealand and UK and MKR Australia is the only one with mean, nasty people. This started after several episodes and, in my opinion, is totally unnecessary.”
So, not exactly peace and love across the entire table, then. But the general feeling was clear… fans are ready for a little less bickering and a lot more cooking.
Alisha and Deanne were ready for the OGs to show off

The contestants were also feeling the competitive energy, particularly as the original teams prepared to show the new Gatecrashers what they could do.
Of course, not everyone thought the night was completely free of drama. One fan wrote: “It was delightful to watch, apart from the bogans [Alisha and Deanne] being rude to mum & son [Sheridan & Ted].”
Alisha and Deanne told WHO they were excited to see the OGs step up, although that didn’t mean they were about to let the newcomers steal the spotlight.
“They’ve definitely stepped it up,” Alisha and Deanne said. “We’re nervous… we’re ready. This is how the OGs do it. We need to be better than the bloody Gatecrashers.”
In other words, everyone was happy to cheer each other on, but nobody was handing over their place in the competition without a fight. Fair enough!
And Krysten and Lucy certainly gave the other teams something to think about.
Krysten and Lucy served up a huge redemption
Krysten and Lucy went into their second Instant Restaurant hoping to beat their first-round score of 72. Instead, the Queensland mother-daughter duo smashed it with 92 points, taking the top spot on the leaderboard.
Their chilli crab entrée earned perfect 10s from Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge. Dessert hit a small snag when Lucy’s choux pastry came out flat, but the pair adapted and still impressed the table.
Colin even had a warning for the other teams: “You should be very proud of that score. Watch out, everybody else.”
And while Sheridan’s clash with Alisha and Deanne provided a little drama, the episode was a reminder that MKR can deliver great food and entertaining competition without an argument at every turn. More of this, please!
