Who Has Been Eliminated?

Luke McGregor & Julie McGregor

 Son & Mother

In the first episode, it was mother-and-son duo Julie and Luke who faced the unfortunate fate of being the first eliminated. Despite giving it their all, the pair struggled to master a tricky salsa dance challenge. After several attempts, they chose to take a 30-minute time penalty, hoping it wouldn’t cost them the race. Unfortunately, that decision proved to be their downfall.

While reality stars Cyrelle Paule and Eden Dally initially arrived last at the pitstop, they were saved at the final moment due to Julie and Luke’s penalty. Reflecting on their time in the race, Luke jokingly mentioned they should have opted for the sandwich-making challenge instead of dancing. However, the duo remained positive, with Julie stating she had a “great time hanging” with her son on the show. Luke also proudly added that they were representing Mudgin-Gal Women’s Centre, a Sydney-based charity that provides essential support to Indigenous women.

Sisters

The second leg of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition saw plenty of drama as Nat and Mel became the latest team to be eliminated. Starting off in the stunning city of Salta, Argentina, the teams embarked on a thrilling (and for some, terrifying) cable car ride down from Cerro San Bernardo. Despite Mel’s fear of heights, the sisters powered through the challenge. However, their journey took a turn for the worse when they made a wrong turn en route to their detour, putting them far behind the pack.

After struggling to catch up and a dramatic final footrace to the pit stop, Nat and Mel lost out to Eden and Cyrell, making them the second team to leave the race. Despite the heartbreak, the sisters were proud to have raced in support of the Black Dog Institute, a charity close to their hearts that focuses on mental health and suicide prevention.

Couple

Travelling through northwest Argentina, the remaining celebrity duos were faced with one of the most physically challenging detour options – hiking to the top of a mountain.

While they may have overcome the high-altitude challenge, Cyrell’s less-than-fond interactions with a llama held her and partner Eden up during their final challenge. Despite Cyrell’s best efforts to overcome her dislike of animals, the pair were the last to greet Beau at the pitstop.

Racing on behalf of Bravehearts, an Australian child protection organisation dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse, Cyrell shared, “We really wanted to win this for our charity but, at the same time, it was great to raise awareness for them and for people to know that there is help that they can get and where they can go to.”

Couple

Initially leading the pack, Jett and Lily chose to take a one-hour time penalty rather than complete a daunting eating challenge that required them to consume an entire cow’s head.

While their choice may have saved their stomachs, it sadly cost them valuable time, making the duo the last to arrive at the pit-stop in Johannesburg.

Racing for their charity, eating disorders support network endED, the couple reflected on bringing valuable awareness, with Jett telling Ten, “Getting people to start having a conversation is all that might be needed to help someone.”

Friends

After racing through South Africa, DJ Havana Brown and her bestie Stephanie Wood began their last leg of the race in good stead – leading the pack to their first challenge following their virtual pit stop.

Trying their hand at archeology, the pair were tasked with retrieving 28 human teeth from a small patch of dirt. Despite having a head start, Havana and Steph slowly started following behind as they discovered they were missing one tooth, with the setback making them the last to arrive at the pit stop.

While they may not have progressed to the next leg, the friends were proud to have supported Salvation Army Melbourne 614 throughout their adventure.

Matildas Teammates

In a surprising twist for fans, frontrunners Chloe Logarzo and Emily Gielnik were eliminated from The Amazing Race Australia after a wayward gear-drop caused the Matildas teammates to go back to their previous pit stop.

“I’m still trying to process what happened in Namibia. I’m devastated we couldn’t win it for [the National Breast Cancer Foundation] but I am grateful that The Amazing Race gave me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity… I hope we inspired people to believe in themselves, to never give up, and to enjoy the process,” Chloe wrote to Instagram.

Childhood Friends

Heading into the ninth leg of The Amazing Race, Olympic legend Ian Thorpe and his childhood best friend Christian Miranda were strong frontrunners in the competition however, after battling with shin splits for almost half of the competition, Ian and Christian made the difficult decision to exit the race.

“As the race went on, unfortunately, Ian’s injuries were becoming more limiting. Having to navigate The Dome just wasn’t something he was going to be able to accomplish, and it was at this point we knew our time was up,” Christian reflected.

Racing in support of ReachOut, a mental health organisation that offers community and critical support to young people, Christian shared, “To bring awareness to such an impactful charity that is making support much more accessible to today’s youth is something I was very proud to be a part of.”

What’s Next?

As the competition continues, more celebrity duos will face elimination, and the stakes will only get higher. With fan-favourite host Beau Ryan guiding the stars through each challenge, the 2024 season is shaping up to be a wild ride. Stay tuned for more updates as The Amazing Race Australia heats up, and we say farewell to the next team!
