The Block star Mimi hit out on social media after receiving “three tens” by judges on the show, describing her experience on the hit Channel 9 series as “heavily flawed”.
Taking to Instagram on November 7, the reality star shared a lengthy post – which came days after fellow contestant Brad admitted to “flirting” with her, causing his wife Kylie to storm off the show.
“Perfect scores are hard to come by on The Block and to have received three 10s from the judges last night was surreal. But “perfect” would be the last word I’d use to describe my experience on and after the show.
It was heavily flawed,” Mimi wrote.
“As is the real world and the online world that we live in I think that it’s important to remind ourselves, that not one single person in this world is perfect and that we all make mistakes. It is something incredibly special about humans and it’s what makes us all interesting and unique individuals.
“But with these mistakes, gives each of us an opportunity to decide whether or not we want to learn from them or make them again. To be honest, there’s no wrong or right answer, but choosing to learn from them is challenging, uncomfortable and will allow you to evolve and transform into a better version of yourself.”
Mimi went on to say that she tried to avoid reading “hurtful and hateful comments” and said that when she does read them “it upsets me”.
“I found myself deleting all of the bad comments because I didn’t want anyone, including myself, to see them. But what I’ve come to realise is that removing them doesn’t show a true representation of the world that we live in. By keeping all of the positive and negative comments, it shows that nobody is perfect, everybody makes mistakes and we all say things driven by emotion. Leaving all variations of comments will give me better insight and will help me continue to strive to be a better person everyday,” she said.
“These next few days are going to be big for us Blockheads so I thought I’d give everyone and myself a reminder that there are so many layers to each and every one of us and it’s important to embrace all of it. Love, hate and everything in between. It brings me peace knowing that whatever happens this weekend, we are all still flawed no matter what the outcome but it’s the choices you make along the journey that will help you live a life full of meaning,” she concluded.
Earlier in the season, footage showed Mimi and fellow contestant Brad engaging in a seemingly flirtatious conversation.
The extent of the flirting? Brad told Mimi, “you know I’d follow your OnlyFans,” referencing the site that often contains adult content behind a paywall.
A remorseful Brad later admitted, “[I] said some pretty inappropriate comments. I was flirting with Mimi, Kylie overheard them and very understandably she’s quite upset.”
He said that his family, including the five children he shares with Kylie, weren’t on his mind at the time.
“I guess I’m embarrassed and I feel sorry for other people having to live with my choices. She’s the last person I wanna hurt, her or my kids or my family. But I managed to do it anyways,” he said.
Kylie declared his behaviour was “sickening, absolutely sickening”.
“How I’m even married to you is beyond me, I deserve so much better,” Kylie told him.
The episode ended with Kylie leaving The Block and heading home.
“I can’t be on National television with having my marriage breaking down,” she said in a video message played on Brad’s phone. “I’m going home and I can’t say I’ll be returning, you can talk to Brad about the details but unfortunately I can’t do it anymore.”
“I’d very much say that I’ve just single handedly destroyed my family,” Brad told the camera.
