Samantha Jade’s wedding to former Sony Music Australia executive Pat Handlin has been “completely put on hold”.

The ARIA award-winning artist was forced to make the devastating decision to cancel her wedding until at least 2022 after the Delta variant of COVID-19 stopped her from flying home to Perth due to border closures.
“We were actually going to start planning a few months ago, we were like let’s just do a real quick plan and maybe the ideas we had … I guess I would have to let go of that and plan it really fast and let’s just do it and get married, and then that (Perth) lockdown in April (happened),” Samantha told AAA.
“I was like, ‘you know what? let’s not bother. I can’t not have my family at my wedding.
“We are just going to put it on hold to see what is going on with COVID, it’s not worth it, first of all it’s extremely expensive and it’s so heartbreaking to have to put it on hold all the time.
“I don’t want to also get all excited and you know have to cancel it, so right now it’s just on hold until the world gets itself together I guess.”
In January 2019 Samantha announced on Instagram she was engaged to Pat, the son of Sony Music Australia boss Dennis Handlin.
She posted a black and white photo of her and Pat captioned: “Yes!”
The loved-up couple have been dating since mid-2017. Samantha previously dated Swedish music producer Christian Nilsson for seven years, before splitting in 2013.
Samantha and Pat have already been forced to postpone their wedding twice after previous WA border closures meant her father, who lives in Perth, wouldn’t have been able to walk her down the aisle.
“Because every time I think about it I get excited. I don’t want to go into that excited mode, because I hate having to get myself out of that place.”
The pair had a glimmer of hope in April that they may finally be able to tie the knot, but their plans were shot-lived.
“We’d started talking about it again… and then Perth went into a lockdown the week after,” the New Boy hitmaker said at the time.
The most recent postponement is another tragic blow for Samantha, who hoped to pay tribute to her late mother Jacqueline Gibbs on her wedding day.
Samantha told Now To Love in March that she had hoped to incorporate a piece of her mother’s wedding dress into her own bridal gown.
