Netflix has released a dark new miniseries called Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, and if the title is anything to go by, audiences will no doubt be on edge while watching.
The series is written by Haley Z. Boston, whose writing credits include Hunters, Brand New Cherry Flavour and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, and executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, who we know from Stranger Things, of course.

What is Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen about?
The series, which has been compared to Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, stars Camila Marone (Daisy Jones and the Six) and Adam DiMarco (The White Lotus) as Rachel and Nicky, a loved-up couple who are preparing to tie the knot at his parents’ remote cabin.
As the wedding day approaches, Rachel is getting increasingly nervous and convinced that something isn’t quite right.
She does have a pretty good reason to be nervous – Nicky’s family are very odd, and the atmosphere grows increasingly dark as time progresses.

Speaking about the series, Boston told Tudum, “I love horror. It’s natural to me, [it’s how] I process my own emotions and feelings and my own understanding of the world,.”
“I think horror allows you to explore taboo feelings and take all of these fears and give them some bite.”
She added that the tone of the show is “unsettling, getting-under-your-skin dread”.
Boston also revealed that she pulled inspiration from her own parents’ decades-long, loving marriage.
“When I was a kid, my mom said to me, ‘You just need to make sure you don’t marry the wrong person,'” she said. “The show is about the fear of marrying the wrong person.”
“I’ve been to weddings where people say in their vows, ‘I never once had a doubt,'” Boston explains. “I hear that, and I’m like, ‘That’s crazy. What do you mean?'”
As one X user wrote, “A horror show about a wedding week? Honestly that already sounds realistic… weddings are stressful enough before the horror even starts.”
Another said the show is “not what everyone thinks”.
“The title alone is enough to give me chills,” wrote a third. “Netflix usually nails these types of psychological thrillers. Can’t wait to binge this!”
