MAFS groom Steve Powell, 50, may be regretting his wish for a woman who likes to laugh after meeting his new ‘wife’ Rebecca Zukowski, 51. While the pair had one of the best weddings we’ve seen on the show so far, there is one detail that could derail the whole thing – or could it just be a trick by producers?
That detail? Rebecca’s very loud laugh!
Before walking down the aisle, Steve, a silver fox with four daughters, told the producers the qualities he wanted in his dream woman.
“They have to be a foodie, they’ve got to enjoy drink, have a laugh, not take themselves seriously, someone that’s just themselves, that’s the most important thing,” Steve said.
And the MAFS experts may have found the right person for him in Rebecca, who says she’s looking for a knight in shining armour and, ideally, a silver fox.
MAFS’ Steve is looking for ‘someone who likes to have a laugh’
On his wedding day, Steve reiterated that “a sense of humour is very important” to him, adding that it would be a dream to meet the love of his life in the experiment.
“I’m really hoping that Stevie’s going to meet a really funny, bubbly person,” Steve’s sister Sammy told the cameras.
Cut to Rebecca, unable to stop laughing while having her hair and makeup done.
“I laugh a lot,” she tells the cameras. “My laugh can be a little bit loud, I hope he likes that.”
Steve’s dad, Stephen Senior, also added that he hoped his son finds “someone with a sense of humour that can laugh along, just a good soul”.
OK, so a sense of humour and being able to have a laugh are really important, we get it!

“I’m ready to fall in love with somebody, with someone warm and kind,” Steve tells the cameras. “Someone who likes to have a laugh, not take themselves seriously, someone that’s genuine and has love to give.”
Thank goodness you said that, Steve, because, as we now know, his new bride loves to laugh.
Before Rebecca can even walk down the aisle, her laugh (which producers are clearly comparing to a kookaburra) can be heard from miles away.
“That’s Rebecca!” her friends say.
From the moment they meet, Rebecca is giggling, and a surprised Steve quips, “Was that you I could hear laughing?”
The pair seem to be a match made in heaven, and even their vows are similar.
“I couldn’t be happier,” Rebecca tells the guests, and Steve agrees.
“I think we’re onto something good,” Steve tells the cameras. “All the traits you look for in someone, I feel like Rebecca has. It’s beautiful!”
During the reception, the producers don’t shy away from comparing Rebecca’s laugh to a kookaburra once again, this time showing Steve’s guests looking a little stunned by it.
“That’s a laugh we’re going to get to know, isn’t it?” Steve’s sister jokes.
One guest adds, “I love that laugh,” while another says, “It’s definitely unique!”
Steve says Rebecca’s laugh made him ‘jump’
Steve also tells the cameras that Rebecca’s laugh “stands out”, adding, “I’m not sure that’s a normal, traditional laugh… it’s louder than I’m used to, that’s for sure!”
“It’s definitely one that comes from the belly – it could stop traffic…,” he jokes, adding his new wife’s laugh made him “jump” a little bit.
However, he also made sure to add that he thinks Rebecca has a beautiful heart and soul, and a sense of humour similar to his, which he describes as “perfect”.
Speaking to Rebecca at the reception, he said, “I couldn’t be more impressed.”
“I can’t believe how happy I am right now,” Rebecca tells the cameras.
Even her son, Austin, loves Steve for his mum, so could this be a match made in heaven? Will Steve accept Rebecca’s laugh? Time will tell!
