What is On Swift Horses about?
Set in the 1950s. On Swift Horses is an American romance-drama film adapted from Shannon Pufahl’s 2019 novel of the same.
The story follows Muriel, played by Daisy Edgar-Jones, and her husband Lee, played by Will Poulter, as they settle into life in California after Lee returns from the Korean War.
Things get complicated when Lee’s younger brother, Julius, played by Jacob Elordi, unexpectedly joins them in California. While Lee wants to build a life with both of them in San Diego, Julius has his own plans and heads to Vegas, where he starts a secret relationship with a coworker named Henry.
Back in California, Muriel’s also leading a secret life, getting into horse racing and developing feelings for her neighbour Sandra – delving deeper into romance, gambling, and the exploration of sexuality during a time when it was deemed immoral.

Who is the cast of On Swift Horses?
On Swift Horses is led by Normal People star Daisy Edgar-Jones as Muriel and The Maze Runner’s Will Poulter as her husband Lee.
Completing the family dynamic is Saltburn’s Jacob Elordi as Lee’s brother Julius, while Diego Calva, who starred alongside Margot Robbie in Babylon, portrays Henry – the man Julius becomes involved with in Las Vegas.
Sasha Calle, best known for her role in The Flash, is set to portray Muriel’s neighbour Sandra, and rounding out the cast is Don Swayze, bringing his experience to the role of Terence.

When is the On Swift Horses release date?
On Swift Horses had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2024, and is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 25, 2025.
While the Australian release date has yet to be explicitly confirmed, we do know that Sony Pictures Classics acquired rights to the film in Australia, with the film’s release potentially coinciding with the European premiere in late July.
