It’s been a long, long time coming but finally the wait is over – Severance has returned for a second season.
Almost three years after fans were left with that massive cliffhanger, which saw the fate of employees Mark, Helly, Dylan and Irving from the mysterious Lumon Industries up in the air, we are going to get some answers.
But only some answers – and plenty more questions.
As star Adam Scott explains, “You are going to have questions immediately answered but there will be a whole host of new questions that will come up.”
Not surprisingly there’s been plenty of hype about the return of the show. The stars even went so far as to work away in character in a glass box in the middle of New York’s Grand Central Station.
It’s worth remembering, Season 1 earned 14 Emmy nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series and acting noms for Scott, Christopher Walken, John Turturro and Patricia Arquette,
So get ready to put in a little overtime and read on for everything you need to know about this strange but super show.

What is Severance about?
The sci-fi thriller, directed by Ben Stiller, follows a group of workers who have all undergone a surgical procedure which divides their memories between their work and personal lives.
When they arrive at work at the mysterious Lumon Industries, they’re Innies, with no knowledge or memory of anything to do with their private lives. When they knock off, and become Outies, they have no idea what they’ve been doing all day.

Mark Scout (Adam Scott) is a team leader at Lumon Industries. His day to day with workmates Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry) is fairly uneventful – until Helly (Britt Lower) arrives. Unable to accept her role and her new life she causes chaos.
In Season 1 this awesome foursome confront the true nature of their work, looking for answers about their lives on the outside.
This leads them to mess with the “severance barrier” and now it seems the consequences of that are set to play out in Season 2,
What will happen in Season 2 of Severance?
Seriously, it is anyone’s guess what’s coming this season. I’m still not entirely sure what happened in Season 1.
But, thanks to Stiller, we at least know this: “Season 2 is weirder, tenser and freakier.”
I guess we’ve been warned.
Scott has also shared a little about what’s in store for his character, who perhaps has more to gain – or lose – than his colleagues from finding out what’s really going on at Lumon Industries.
“Innie Mark and Outie Mark are on a collision course with each other and I’m not sure they can both get what they want,” Scott explains.
Who is in the cast of Severance?

Seriously, the cast of Severance is phenomenal. And this season there’s a host of big stars joining in various roles to boost the star power even more.
Most of the cast from the first season have returned for Season 2. Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry and John Turturro are all back as the disruptive employees as is Christopher Walken. Patricia Arquette, Tramell Tillman and Aussie Dichen Lachman reprise their roles as senior management of Lumon Industries.
In exciting news, those joining the cast for Season 2 include Alia Shawcat, Gwendoline Christie, Sarah Bock and, keep your ears peeled for Keanu Reeves.

Will there be a Season 3 of Severance?
Yes there will be a Season 3 of Severance. And in more good news, series creator Dan Erickson has said we won’t have to wait another three years for it to arrive. COVID disrupted Season 1 and the writers’ strike delayed Season 2. But Erickson revealed that with much of Season 3 “mapped out”, the process of getting it onto our screens will be much faster.
“There is an endpoint for the series as a whole, and we know more or less how many seasons we are going to do, although that’s not totally solidified,” he told Variety. “For Season 3, a lot is mapped out, but a lot could still change.”
