Good news: Slow Horses season five is returning sooner than you think! The British drama series is coming back with a bang, too, as shown in the season’s first look, unveiled by Apple TV+.
If you’re catching up, Slow Horses is about a group of former British MI5 agents, whose various career errors and disgraces have led them to be assigned to work in an administrative hell-hole dubbed Slough House. The series follows their various spy capers and relationships in this small misfit intelligence team.
A critically-acclaimed hit, the return of the Emmy and BAFTA-winning series is a coo for its many hooked fans. Led by Oscar winner Gary Oldman, the cast (which includes our new Pride and Prejudice star, Jack Lowden) is top-tier. Add in a thrilling plot and some oddball characters and we are seated!
Slow Horses season 5 release date
Slow Horses will return on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. The series will mark its season five return with two episodes dropping that day, followed by one episode each Wednesday until the finale on October 22, 2025.
What will Slow Horses season 5 be about?
Season five of Slow Horses will continue to track our favourite misfits through the drudgery of Slough House, however, it seems there’s some exciting work ops coming their way! This season, a string of odd events across London sees the team working through the night to figure out how they’re connected. Although, will the task lead them into dodgy territory? Meanwhile, the Slough House tech wiz, Roddy, has a new girlfriend of whom the team are increasingly suspicious.

Are there any new cast members joining season 5?
The Slow Horses cast is led by Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, Jack Lowden as River Cartwright and Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner. While there are a few more familiar faces returning in season five, including Australian actor Hugo Weaving, some new names are joining the mix. Slow Horses season five will introduce Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed to the already stacked cast.
Is Slow Horses season 5 based on a book?
For those who don’t know, Slow Horses is based on ‘Slough House’ book series by writer Mick Herron.
So far, each season has reflected an instalment of the book series, and season five will be no different. Slow Horses season five will be based on the book London Rules, the fifth in the Slough House series.
