Forget the Oscars, this weekend it was all about the laughs as the who’s who of Hollywood gathered in New York City to celebrate Saturday Night Live.
SNL 50: The Anniversary Special saw SNL alums including Tina Fey, Eddie Murphy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Chris Rock, Amy Poehler, and Adam Sandler reunite for one of the biggest TV events of the year and now, we finally know how Aussies can tune in to watch for themselves.

What is SNL50 and who will be on?
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, comedy’s biggest stars, past hosts, cast members and musical legends joined for a historical TV special.
Original cast members including Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, and Laraine Newman took part in the special, alongside celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johannson, Justin Timberlake and Steve Martin.
“It’s a legendary night,” Kim told E! Online, four years after she famously roasted her family members and ex-husband Kanye West as guest host. “Just for me to see so many people that I’ve looked up to, that I’ve watched their sketches over the years, and just to be a part of it tonight, yeah, so special.”
Kim joined Will Ferrell and Scarlet Johannson in Kristin Wiig’s notorious Dooneese skit, as Tom Hanks reprised his hilarious role in the cult classic skit Black Jeopardy with Tracy Morgan and Eddie Murphy. The live show also saw Adam Sandler perform an original anniversary song and Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che bring their weekly skit to the big stage, reminiscing about the best updates over the years.
“We all grew up here,” returning cast member Amy Poehler told NBC on the night, calling it a “family reunion.”
“We don’t usually have a red carpet before our show,” she admitted. “It’s not easy to get glam and then go back and get funny.”

Who attended SNL50?
Meryl Streep, Martin Short, Jenna Ortega, Selena Gomez, Pedro Pascal, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kevin Cosner were among hundreds who congregated in NYC to watch the live show, but attention was on Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds who made their first joint appearance amid their legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
The celebrations also brought out musical acts Sabrina Carpenter, Miley Cyrus, Cher, Bad Bunny, Chappell Roen, Robyn and Paul McCartney.
Miley ignited Radio City Music Hall with her Grammy Award-winning hit, ‘Flowers’, which also featured a nod to her famous performance in 2024.
“Are y’all doing that Grammys thing where you guys are famous and s–t and you don’t sing along, excuse my language?” she joked. The 32-year-old also joined Brittany Howard to sing Queen’s ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, and Sinead O’Connor’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’.
