The countdown to the fifth and final season of The Boys is well and truly on, and while we still have a while to go until it hits our screens, series star Jensen Ackles has gifted Supernatural fans with a pretty exciting teaser.
Sharing a video to The Boys‘ Instagram account, Jensen, who portrays Soldier Boy on the show, recruited the help of his former co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, to make the big announcement – confirming that the OG Supernatural trio will soon be reuniting on-screen for the upcoming season of The Boys.
Understandably, fans lost their collective minds at the news, and given it’s been over five years since we last saw Sam, Dean, and Castiel together, viewers are scouring the internet for clues as to how the trio will play into the storyline.
What is the plot of The Boys Season 5?
While we don’t know too many details about what happens in Season 5, series creator Eric Kripke has confirmed that the most recent spin-off series Gen V will have an impact on the final chapter of The Boys.
“We try to keep the timeline super simple, so it’s all very modular,” Eric previously told Variety. “It’s like there’s Season 3 of The Boys and then after that, Gen V takes place, and then after that The Boys Season 4 takes place… It’s all more like cars on a train than it is a plate of spaghetti.”
With an epic conclusion on their hands, actor Jack Quaid teased that anything is on the cards for the final instalment of the vigilante comedy caper.
“It’s our last season, so the writers can kind of do whatever they want, which is terrifying. I’m expecting a lot of murder! I think that’s what you can expect, probably, I don’t know, I’m just assuming,” he joked to RadioTimes.
When is Season 5 of The Boys coming out?
Given the show’s history of a lengthy production time, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be seeing Season 5 of The Boys any time before 2026.
Series star Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher in the superhero series, also previously joked about the timeline shortly after the Season 4 finale dropped, writing to Instagram, “See you in … 2 years (wish it was sooner) for the final season.”
Who is the cast of The Boys Season 5?
In *major* news, we now know that Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins will be reuniting on screen for Season 5 of The Boys. Based on the first cast photo of their pre-production dinner, we also know fan-favourites, such as that Star Trek’s Karl Urban, The Hunger Games‘ Jack Quaid, Smile’s Jessie T. Usher, Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford, and Suicide Squad’s Karen Kukuhara will all be returning for one last mission.
Is The Boys part of Gen V?
