The Office Australia has officially arrived: Here’s what to expect

The wait is finally over for Australia’s version of The Office to hit our screens and the star of the show – and the franchise’s first female boss – promises it will have a very Aussie feel in all the right ways.

Felicity Ward, who plays the franchise’s newest boss Hannah Howard, tells WHO that the latest spin-off has all the look and feel of the much-loved US version of The Office, but with an undeniable Aussie treatment.

“You know it’s The Office when you’re watching it, as soon as you watch it you know it’s The Office, but it’s absolutely ours, you know it’s Australian. There’s lots of very Australian moments in it without it being corny,” Ward said ahead of her cast debut at the 64th TV WEEK Logie Awards.

Who is the cast of The Office Australia?

Joining Ward for The Office Australia cast’s red carpet debut was fellow co-star Sharri Sebbens, who Ward describes working with The Sapphires star as “the greatest job I’ve ever had in my life.”

“I had a prop bag and I had a little Bluetooth speaker in it and whenever we had to change sets, I would just pump tunes and we just danced all the time,” Ward said.

Sebbens, who has appeared in both Thor movies as well as a raft of Aussie TV series, was equally effusive about Ward, exclaiming, “She killed it, absolutely killed it.”

Sebbens said the mood on set was always fun, “like being sent to the detention room every day with all the naughtiest kids from every other class.”

Joining the cast alongside Ward and Shebbens is an ensemble cast of incredible Aussie talent, including stars Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulus, Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Pallavi Sharda, Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, Firass Dirani and Lucy Schmit.

When is The Office Australia release date?

In exciting news for fans, the time to clock in for our next shift of The Office is here, with Prime Video releasing the Australian spin-off on October 18, 2024.

“We are thrilled to be bringing one of the biggest comedy franchises ever made to Prime Video customers in Australia and around the world,” Prime Video Senior Development Executive Sarah Christie shared in a statement.

“It is an honour to continue the international comedy legacy of The Office locally while introducing new, quintessentially Australian characters. We can’t wait for audiences to meet Hannah Howard, the first female boss The Office format has explored.”

The series, which takes place over eight episodes, takes viewers inside the Flinley Craddick offices as boss Hannah reckons with the new wave of corporate work-from-home initiatives.
