Will the new Netflix docuseries your new true crime obsession?

Premiering exactly 30 years after serial killer Ted Bundy was executed, true crime series Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes re-examines his multiple murders. Watch the trailer below.

The four-part docuseries uses fresh interviews with investigators, archival footage and, most significantly, previously unheard recordings of Bundy, captured while he was in jail. Although Conversations lacks a certain something by relying so heavily on audio – would it have been better suited as a podcast? – the scope and production values are everything you’d expect from a Netflix series of this type.

It is also particularly haunting to hear Bundy discuss his murders in the third person, describing how “he” would have done it – the shocking nature of his spree as great now as in the late 1970s. (On Netflix from Thur., Jan. 24) 3 stars
