Are you dating anyone?

Whoa (laughs), straight into it. No, I’m very comfortable with where I’m at right now; it’s a really good place. Both relationship wise, work wise, life wise, so I’m pretty good at the moment.

So are you in a relationship?

No, I’m just cruising. I’m cruising.

Are you on Tinder or have you been on Tinder before?

No, I’ve never – Sophie and I have had a chat about that and how I’ve never ever had a dating app or website or any of that. I feel like that’s giving up, so I’d rather meet someone a bit more organically.

Like going on a TV show (laughs).

I know it was a bit short lived. Is there anything you wish was aired that we didn’t get to see?

For sure, for sure. Sophie and I had a lot of chats at night. Our red carpet chat was actually pretty funny.

The third night she came and pulled me aside and we had a really really good chat down the back of the basketball courts where none of the other lads had been yet and ended up delving into our family. And I found out that her dad is her best friend, her best mate, and her favourite thing to do is have a drink with her dad on Sunday. It’s probably my ideal day too, having a beer with my dad.

We talked about family so there was quite a bit but you got a lot of blokes and you got a 50-minute TV show so.

Would you possible go on Bachelor in Paradise?

Yeah, for sure. I’d look into it. The offer hasn’t been sent my way but yeah I’d love to.

There has been a lot around Jarrod being a bit of a clinger – how early on did you guys notice that side of him?

Pretty early on. People’s true colours come through during pretty early days. He’s just been a very intense dude, just the opposite of the blokes I’d want to hang around so I didn’t have too much to do with him. Yeah, he was pretty gnarly.

So what we see on TV is pretty much how it is?

Pretty much. Pretty on point. Yeah it was hectic. It was too much for me.

A few of the boys last night said you let your macho ways get in the way, what exactly did that mean?

Oh yeah, I was just having a few drinks with a few of the crew round last night and we were all shouting so I never really actually heard that, I just got told that by the interview before you.

So I don’t know if that had been cropped and edited, but I had no idea. Can’t do too much though, because I did win the man-to-man challenge (laughs).

Do you think that your macho ways hindered your shot with Sophie? Do you think it would have been different if you had met in a bar?

Yeah, I’m thankful for the opportunity to have met her for that exact reason. I don’t think we would have ever met in a bar, so I went about being exactly as I would be in real life. Everything worked out as it should be. Hopefully she’s with exactly who she is meant to be with right now, and I’m exactly where I need to be right now.

What did your family think – were they excited about you going onto the show?

Yeah I think Mum was probably more excited than anyone to see her son on telly. I think Dad and I are very similar, I think Dad wasn’t too fazed if I can put it that way. But yeah it’s pretty cool whatever I want to do they will support me.

Who do you think will win?

Very tough question, I only got to cross paths with the intruders that day and some of them took my spot so we swapped roles. But they all seemed a bit more mature, a bit more up her alley. But at the same time I don’t know enough about them.

The guys I do know I’ve heard a bit about like Dan and Ryan and Mack and all that. They would have my vote purely because I know them on a personal level and they are absolutely ripper guys.

Do you still keep in contact with the guys?

Yeah, got a coffee with Mack later today, spoke with Ryan on the phone for about an hour yesterday. He and I talk about two or three times a week – absolute legend. Luke and I have pretty good chats from time to time and then Sammy and I are still pretty tight.
