Courtney and Sev have had the last laugh.
The best friends went into The Block hoping to prove they had what it takes, but their journey to the 2026 title came with plenty of noise along the way. Throughout the season, they found themselves at the centre of online discussions, with viewers weighing in on everything from their personalities to their approach to the competition.
But after making it all the way to auction and walking away as this year’s winners, Courtney and Sev are looking back on the criticism from a very different position. Their victory has given them plenty to celebrate, but it has also brought the online backlash into focus, particularly the way it affected people who had shown them support.
Speaking to WHO after their auction win, the pair reflected on the trolling, why they never felt the need to respond and how they feel about the people who tried to bring them down.

Courtney and Sev say their win is the only response their critics need
When asked what they wanted to say to the viewers who had been particularly vocal about them online, the best friends made it clear they weren’t interested in a public back-and-forth.
“The only way we wanted to say, you know, ‘stuff you’, is to win. And we’ve done that, so no words needed,” they told WHO.
They also felt the auction result had brought the conversation to a close.
“I mean, there’s no rebuttal required from us,” they added. “I think Saturday’s outcome or Sunday’s outcome is just a shut on the lid. Like, it’s just going to close that conversation.”
For the pair, winning the competition was the response they had wanted all along, and they weren’t about to spend their first day as champions arguing with people online.
The online criticism didn’t stop with Courtney and Sev
Courtney said the trolling had even extended to people who supported them.
The best friends had met people from all walks of life, including some who shared photos with them and their families on social media. But Courtney said those posts sometimes attracted a wave of negative comments.
“And then they’ve been trolled out of this world,” she said. “And, you know, how could you associate with those girls, blah, blah, blah.”

Rather than putting their supporters off, Courtney believes the backlash only made some people more determined to stand by them.
“So, one thing I want to tell all those trolls is that [it] just made them hungrier,” she said, referencing how people called out bullying online. “It’s really sad how some people do carry on online, but, you know, we sent them into meltdown, I think.”
The Block win has given the best friends the last word
Despite everything being said online, Courtney and Sev said they kept their attention on the competition and the people who supported them along the way.
That encouragement also came through in their conversations with their new buyers, who told the pair they could see how much effort and care had gone into House Four.
“Their biggest message to us was, you know, you guys poured your heart and soul into it. You played a really hard competition and that’s what we loved about you guys,” they said.
For Courtney and Sev, the win has also brought a life-changing opportunity after months of hard work. Courtney admitted they were still trying to take in what the result could mean for their futures.
“It’s absolutely life-changing,” she said. “A hundred grand each would have just been insanely life-changing for me and Sev. It would have just, you know, been such a bonus. So, I can’t even fathom what this is going to do for both of us.”
With so much still to sink in, the best friends are yet to work out exactly what comes next. But after a season of online criticism, they’re happy to leave the final word to their result.
