Courtney and Sev entered Sunday night’s room reveal hoping to make The Block history with their third consecutive win. Instead, the Brisbane best friends found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard with an unfinished room and some pretty brutal feedback from the judges.
In what could only be called a fall from grace, the pair scored a total of 17 points — quite a dramatic shift considering they had won both the guest bedroom and family bathroom reveals just weeks earlier. Sadly, they couldn’t maintain their winning streak after presenting a main bedroom and walk-in wardrobe that failed to impress the judges.
Shaynna Blaze compared their dramatic bedhead to a “funeral parlour”, while Marty Fox said the room looked like a “high-end coffin”.
Courtney found humour in the feedback, but some viewers appeared pleased to see the frontrunners brought back down to earth.
“They lost some of the arrogance last night,” one person wrote.
Another agreed with Shaynna’s assessment, writing: “That curtain was reminiscent of a funeral parlour. Just horrible.”
Speaking exclusively to WHO, Courtney and Sev admitted their fall from the top felt more like tumbling from the world’s highest mountain.
“We knew we were going to fall off that pedestal, we just didn’t know how badly we were going to fall,” they said. “We felt like it was an Everest-type fall.”

Courtney and Sev were hopeful that their winning streak would continue after they managed to take out the first two room reveals of the competition. However, the pair said they always knew another team would eventually take the top spot.
“It was mainly more about the winning streak,” they explained. “It just would have been a bit of fun, but we copped it on the chin. You have to cop it on the chin, move forward and try to win the next one.”
While coming in last place wasn’t exactly part of the plan, Courtney and Sev acknowledged that one team dominating every week wouldn’t make for a particularly exciting competition.
“It had to happen, obviously,” they said. “This is a competition and everyone was bound to step up. It needs to be a bit interesting. If we took out all the wins, it would be a bit boring.”
But it wasn’t all bad news. The pair did walk away with $10,000 after winning the weekly budget challenge, giving them at least one reason to celebrate.
Fans agree with the judges’ ‘funeral parlour’ verdict
After Courtney and Sev’s previous rooms divided viewers, several fans were pleased to hear the judges voice the same concerns they had about the pair’s design style.
“The girls’ bedroom was awful. I agree with Shaynna. I hate their bedheads,” one viewer wrote.
“The bedhead looked like the curtain that gets pulled back before sliding a coffin into the crematorium,” another added.
A third said: “I’m so glad they called that room a coffin. That’s what I thought of the other room, to be honest. I’m glad it wasn’t just me!”
Others questioned why the judges had praised a similar design in Courtney and Sev’s winning guest bedroom before criticising it this time.
“The judges should have mentioned this during the first room judging and advised the girls not to continue with the trend,” one viewer argued. “Both rooms look like a coffin or funeral parlour.”
However, another fan pointed out that the bedhead would be relatively easy to replace, writing: “Easy to remove the bedhead, but I thought all the rooms lacked personality.”
Courtney and Sev may have lost their winning streak, but the pair appear determined not to let one disastrous week derail their strategy.
The Block airs Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sundays at 7pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.
