On Monday night’s episode of The Voice Australia, viewers were left shocked when a fan-favourite was unexpectedly eliminated from the competition.
In by far the most epic battle we’ve seen to date, Jack Vidgen and Chriddy Black faced off against each other, singing A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera’s song, “Say Something”.
After their incredible rendition of the popular track, host Sonia Kruger admitted that coach Guy Sebastian had an “impossible choice” to make.

“I don’t know what I would do because they both had so much growth this week and that is what being here is about — so job well done guys,” fellow Voice judge Kelly Rowland told Guy.
While Guy admitted he was proud of both contestants, he knew he had to make a decision— who would go through to the next round.
“I look at Jack, for example, and I see someone who has gone onto a show and then what’s happened post the show has got you to a place that was pretty dark,” he began. “And I’ve loved getting to know you because you are such a humble and kind person who just wants to reconnect with their gift.”
“And then I look at Chriddy and I see someone who is so raw and someone who has been through stuff and then the loss that you’ve been through. You’ve turned that loss around and you want to use it for a positive message.”
Despite praising both contestants, Guy chose Jack— who won Australia’s Got Talent in 2011— leaving a devastated Chriddy to openly question why he wasn’t good enough to go through to the next battle.
“Why didn’t you pick me?” he said through tears.
“That is the brutality of this show and the brutality of battles,” Guy told the aspiring star. “Because we just saw two unified people who had each others’ backs and we’ve got to try and choose. It’s not an easy decision that’s for sure.”
After his shock exit, many fans of the show said the singer had been “stitched up”.
“Guy just said that Chriddy not getting through had nothing to do with his performance. So because he was a up against Jack Vidgen a former competition winner (AGT) is that why Guy?” one Twitter user wrote.
“To me, Chriddy let his vulnerability show in that performance was raw and beautiful. Jack has an amazing voice, but I’m with the majority on this one, Chriddy was more vulnerable and believable,” another user added.
