On Monday night’s episode of Nine’s The Voice Australia, viewers were left shocked when a fan-favourite was unexpectedly eliminated from the competition.
After an epic live show battle between Rebecca Selley— who delivered a beautiful rendition of Beyonce’s “Ave Maria” earlier in the episode— and rapper Denzel, their coach Kelly Rowland decided to pick Denzel to go through to the next round of the finals.

Despite admitting it was a difficult decision, which left the Destiny’s Child singer in tears, Kelly said she went with Denzel because he “had growing to do and needs me as a coach”.
As expected, the star’s shock choice to boot the 34-year-old off the talent competition had Voice fans up in arms.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so disappointed with a decision. Rebecca deserved a spot,” one Twitter user wrote. “Big big mistake!!!!!!! How can you let Rebecca go…. over who!??? Denzel!?? Big mistake,” another added.
Another wrote: “How on EARTH can you not take Rebecca though??? Best vocalist on your team, Kelly, by a long, long way.”
Earlier in the episode, the aspiring star had Kelly in tears when she announced she was expecting her second child, a baby girl. Rebecca is already mum to two-year-old toddler J.J.
“Rebecca represents women everywhere who are like, I can have the baby and I can work too. I can have the baby and bring home the bacon,” she said of the Australian star who’s blind audition blew all the coaches away.
Following her shock exit, Rebecca took to Instagram to let her followers know she’s come to terms with Kelly’s decision and is determined to move forward.
“My time on the show may have come to an end… but I am left with so much hope, hope and a sense of moving forward, to further growing myself and hope to a beautiful future! After all, every ending is a new beginning,” she began. “To my friends and family, your love and support has meant more than I can write! I love you all so much. Cheers to the future.”
This isn’t the first time fans have been disappointed in the judges’ decisions. Earlier in the season, viewers were reeling when Guy Sebastian chose Australia’s Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen over Chriddy Black. Many lovers of the series said they had been “stitched up”.
“Guy just said that Chriddy not getting through had nothing to do with his performance. So because he was a up against Jack Vidgen a former competition winner (AGT) is that why Guy?” one Twitter user wrote.
