When Prime Video released the official trailer for its new Western drama, The English, fans went into an immediate frenzy.

Starring A Quiet Place’s Emily Blunt and Twilight’s Chaske Spencer, The English is an epic Western drama series set to premiere on Prime Video.

What is The English about?
Set in middle America in 1890, The English is an epic chase Western with core themes of identity and revenge to tell a uniquely compelling parable on race, power, and love.
Emily Blunt stars as Lady Cornelia Locke, an aristocratic Englishwoman who crosses paths with a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp, played by Chaske Spencer, as they set out against a violent landscape built on “dreams and blood”.
“Both of them have a clear sense of their destiny, but neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past,” the synopsis reads. “They must face increasingly terrifying obstacles that will test them to their limits, physically and psychologically.”
As the unlikely duo overcome each obstacle, they’re drawn closer to their ultimate destination—the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming, where a series of bizarre and macabre unsolved murders await.
It is here that the full extent of their intertwined history will be truly understood, and “they will come face-to-face with the future they must live”.
What have fans said about The English?
To say the first look of the series was received well would be an understatement. Fans of Western and Emily Blunt alike couldn’t believe the crossover they were being treated to.

Who is cast in The English?
Joining Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer in The English is Stephen Rea (The Shadow Line) as the local sheriff Robert Marshall, and Valerie Pachner (A Hidden Life) as young widow Martha Myers.
The series’ ensemble cast also includes Rafe Spall (The Salisbury Poisonings), Tom Hughes (A Discovery of Witches), Toby Jones (Marvellous), and Ciarán Hinds (The Terror).
