The 32-year-old, who shares two sons - Hendrix, four, and Harley, three- claims it was 'liberating' to finally go public with their split.
'It was the most liberating feeling when I finally came out because the reality is that Daniel and I slept in separate beds,' she told Stellar magazine.
'While I think that's a noble thing to do for a certain amount of time, I don't think there's any glory in just staying together... I have nothing but love, he does for me also,' she added.
Christie took to Instagram to announce her split from Daniel on Instagram in April this year.
'Sorry I have been a bit AWOL the last few months, I've had a lot of welcome changes!' she wrote.
'Daniel and I went our separate ways quite a while back now (we were strictly flatmates in every way for over a year and a half, and ladies you have to know your worth and not settle for anything less than happiness!)'
The post concluded: 'But the boys are both our priority and I can't wait to keep all the amazing things coming this year! Xx.'
