Speaking to LifeStyle this week, Sarah Marie revealed it was a different person in Malik’s life who was bestowed with the special honour – Matty’s brother Kris Fade.
"My brother in law was meant to come in July, because he's Malik's Godfather," Sarah Marie told the publication, revealing the COVID-19 restrictions had put some of baby Malik’s celebrations on hold.
"Malik couldn't even have his christening," she added.
"His Christening will probably be next year, we're going to have to wait. Until Kris can actually get time off work cause he's on a radio show there. So hopefully and God willing everything will go to plan next year.”
Since welcoming Malik in November last year, Sarah Marie has been open about the highs and lows of motherhood.
"I've had some problems breastfeeding, but besides that, it's been amazing – it's an overwhelming experience becoming a mother," she told TV WEEK in February.
Having struggled to fall pregnant, Malik was a miracle for the couple.
"It's a whole new ball game, a whole new world," Sarah said.
"I love being a mum now, but it has been hard. It's the toughest thing we've ever done, and I didn't realise the extra problems you face. No-one tells you about it all."
While Matty and Sarah describe Malik as a "dream baby", the pair agree it hasn't all been smooth sailing.
"There are hard days and hard times, and it can be hard to function, but it's all worth it," Matty, 32, admitted.
"Meeting Malik was the best day of my life."
